So it might be a good idea that I change out that stuff sooner rather then later? You make it sound like it is going to be a pain to switch out if I wait.

Not a pain, just more worn out when you do. And like Mike pointed out, you can check all the shimming clearances while you are in there, unless you feel Ok with the job that the $2/day Tiawanese kid did on it..... ......did I mention the bad linkages before? If you are gonna run the truck hard for a long time, I'd do the oil fill job.

it just may hurt the gears depending on how it breaks down. TTR diffs are prolly the best out there, but with a chitty lube in them they may wear quickly

It is on the list of things to do with the revo and ST. Just when will I get around to it is the question LOL. I dont have any big races till late sept when I plan to go to mahomet and race at Glitchers RC. Other then that,I might race once or twice at LH. So I do have plenty of time to do all the work I wish to do.
What were the numbers I was told to use? 7-30-3? I like to have a somewhat lose setup. Like to fishtail the truck in the corners. Not all the time, but I dont need the thing to turn like a bus or something. Basicly, have the power split 60/40 or somewhere in that area.

Diff oil is more for tuning your diffs not making them last

ya but tex u have to understand that if there is no oil on ur diffs, especially on a truggy u will destroy them
Try 7-30-1 if u like loose setup, I go from 1 to 3 depending on the track

understood....but you guys said there is grease in there stock, that will keep them from wearing fast. Changing to oil won't make them last longer than grease it will just allow you to tune the diffs for your driving style.

i have to disagree, with so much diff action because of the light grease, the diffs are going to get extremely hot after time u will prolly end up seizing up the diff because the gears with melt to the case.

One the subject of TTR diffs, last night I got the rear unit pulled and opened up. I only ran this truck maybe 5-6 tanks before getting to this task, and all, and I mean ALL of the stock grease was evenly distributed everywhere but on any tooth surface of any gear. It was in the nooks and crannys, on the pins, around the gears....just not on the gears. SO, mechanically inclined minds would presume that the minute amount of lube left on the surfaces of the gears is doing little to tune the diff action or protect the gears from wear.
My analysis, stock grease sucks, silicone oil rules.....PM your diffs sooner than later.

Hmm.. a kid as a driver. Well either he is the next tiger woods of RC racing. Or these trucks are just that easy to drive.
