So how many "general" threads have you made so far? lol

So, how much is a decent pair of 10 or 12 in subs and a box and an amp that can handle them (all this has to fit into a truck) and um...dam what was I going to say..oh well

One more time..... a pair is not needed. Get One nice sub, a custom box, and a nice amp to power it. It depends on what type of sub you want as well. For one 10" you can spend anywhere from $100 - $750, say $60 for materials to build your own box, $150-$800 for an amp, and another $70 for wiring. Yeah.... good fun hobby. I will try to get pictures and specs on my whole setup a little bit later..... (And it may change in the future since the amp rack sustained some damage when the GTI got rear ended. Time to get creative.)

It's much cheaper to make a box for yourself.

Because in most situations it costs you more money for the second sub, more money for a nicer amp, it takes up more space, and often isn't a huge improvement in sound level or quality over a properly set up single sub. Now if you are talking about 2 cheaper subs like type r's or kappa perfects, then 2 is ok because they don't take large amounts of power. However I would still go with a single higher end sub like a nice JL, Diamond Audio, or my Adire Audio Brahma.

gotcha

I got a question. How do you bridge 2 subs into a 2 channel amp?

Depends on the subs and amp. (How many ohms.) Some you can get away with just running one out of each channel and having the settings the same.

If you can go with the Kappa perfects from Infinity or the alpine Type R. I think you get a heck of a lot for the small price difference. The reference series is nice though. (Actually for the truck go with one type R and a slightly lower power amp. You can get a little bit nicer amp than that pyle for around the same price. It will put out a little less power (more than enough for 1 10" type R) but will actually be a cleaner signal with less distortion.) Distortion is what really kills subs.

Stereos are easy! It's tuning them properly thats a BIOCH!!!! Ask Towshen about that! And Dan mich already has that setup in his truck(i think)!

I just finished getting everything in my work and working a little over a week ago. Just want to try some other setups now so I can get some experience and also know my system inside and out. These subs are definatly not lacking in quality or sound. My mom is always complaining because she can hear me comming from like 2 blocks away. And trust me I only go for quality. I wont put up with a powerful system that just muffles out at full range. I just heard bridging your amp will greatly double the power of everything.

Bridging increases power because you are sending all the power to what is basically one speaker! The problem with doing that is it changes the Ohm rating. Which can blow your subs.

Audio systems are almost a must have for anyone who drives alot! I got all JL stuff in my truck. A very nice stealth box off to the side houses a 10W3 and it's powered by a JL amp that's in a hidden compartment. Having maximum space for my rc's was my main priority Smile. I spent close to 1k for my setup. That box was the most expensive part, lol.

I got mine bridged now. Just did positive terminals and negative terminals together througth the terminals on the box. One negative terminal from the left to the channel 1 negative and positive from the right to channel 2. It basically doubled the bass power. And I dont care if I blow them because I got a warrenty on my subs for 4 years so if they blow just take em back to best buy and get brand new ones for free.

Because your amp is a 2 channel in nature, bridging won't do you anygood. You're still gonna get 800W to each speaker either way.

hmm, 800w output ---> 300w speaker.....

Kiss those subs goodbye dude.

actually I noticed a big difference. If they blow they blow. I get free new ones so it doesnt bother me.

That alone will not blow a sub.
