Now you make me ask..... what does your guy at the track charge for a set of GQ's?

GQ - $15/pair or $28 per set....it might be less by a dollar or two...i just can't remeber offhand.

The Twisters go for about the same amount...$15/pair or less.

Either way it's not a bad price because it's zero tax and zero shipping Smile

Yep. not bad at all.

Rcdad, if you're still reading this....when I came across 80-94 from IN to IL Weds, that construction traffic getting onto 80westbound back terrible. I jumped onto 294 north, got off at 159th and right back onto 294 south. Then you can just exit back to 80. You have to pay some extra tolls, but man did it save sitting in that line of trucks!!! It was almost back to Halsted St. Hope it will be lighter on a Sunday morning, but you do get the MI return traffic going thru there on Sundays.

Yeah, 80-94 is always a huge mess. Nexus what do they charge for the set of foams at the track?

Problem is I'd pay more in shipping than the tires cost to get them by Saturday.

but when you see the performance difference they make its gonna be worth that extra money.

Ok this may sound like a dumb question but will the wheels/tires from an electric TC3 fit on a nitro TC3?
Reply
#33
Are there upgrades (besides tires) that will make the car better on the track?

#34
front and rear sway bars. for better handling. body, wing, suspension, motor or engine, rims?? maybe lighter parts, keeping your car cool. ive never had an onroad car except for an xmod. but all those kind of things helps on real cars

I'm not sure I understand the question fully...

do you mean premounted foams or premounted rubber tires?

For basics all you should need are optional springs and swaybars. Everything else you can just adjust on the car itself. There's no reason a box stock NTC3 or TC3 can't work well....you just have to know how to set the car up.

Tinley is closed this week but a lot of racers will be at AJ's for a Trophy race on Saturday.

The biggest thing when you start racing instead of bashing is knowing what to change based on what you car is doing. Practicing on in a open parking lot is never that great. The surface is dusty or has rocks everywhere and without a predetermined layout you really are not testing the cars handling abilities.

One thing I would suggest is go to AE's website and download the pdf of NTC3 and TC3 setups that suit your needs. I'm pretty sure you will find something that will give you a better starting point.

Yes...those are pro drivers running usually on higher bite tracks and mod motors but as a basis for a standard setup they usually work pretty good.

Which car are we talking about...

If you are looking for the TC3 you won't find any outdoor foam setups....It's not really run many places except this area. The standard for outdoor eletric racing is rubber tires. We just run foams here since it's not big sanctioned racing events.

So "foam tires, smooth asphalt" is actually an indoor track?

Well I went ahead and ordered two sets of Jaco 3040's and two sets of 3142's from the guy in Honk Kong.

And for S**ts and giggles I ordered from Twisters. I love to gamble.

Probably an even gamble Big Grin

Now Team Associated used a Protoform Stratus body at the ROAR Nationals so I'll probably order one of those

Does the NTC3 use a 190 or 200 mm body?

All 1/10th scale nitro touring cars run 200mm

Electric TC is 190mm

Hey what is the difference between the BRP Anti-Roll bar kid and the blades. Also, do these really help with the blades?

Nexus, do many (any) electric guys use 200mm bodies and offset wheels or do they keep the shell at 190.

Nexus, what kind of engines are you guys running at tinley? do you guys have a stock and mod class or is it an open class. I've got two outdated serpents (impulse & 705) that need mills.

Rcdad, my Twisters arrived today. That was about 5 days turnaround time. Now need to order offset rears. The 30mm's touch the radio tray on my RS4 and I don't want to modify the box.

Also got my shells for rcboyz (ebay) 2 for $43 shipped and got them in 5 days also. Time to start laying out a paint job!!

If all goes well I'll be bringing this with me except mine has all the gpm aluminum upgrades and a picco .15 engine.
