Something was weird about the steering on my new Savage. At first I thought it was the transmitter, then the receiver, then I recharged the batteries, finnaly I pulled out the new Hitec 645 steering servo I bought and found out it only goes one way!
I put the one in from my Pede and it works perfectly.
I'll be giving Towers a call in the morning, never had something they have sent me go bad so I'm unsure what they will say.

I heard towers customer service was really good, odds are they will have you send it in and send you a new one.

I'd suggest looking into more dependable servos next time you buy.
I've had two 645's go bad and have heard hundreds of other stories (yes hundreds)

Always been good to me? Anyway, Towers had me send it back for an exchange - no problem.

The ones that burned on me were used on a AM radio system that didn't have EPA's, I bet that had a lot to do with it.

Boy, even with the 645, I still can't get the savage to turn those big tires at a dead stop.

did you get the toe/camber right. It still looked funky to me in the last pics I saw
if it's dramatically off your tires will wear out real fast and weird

The camber still needs to be adjusted (I guess), there is so much travel that its hard to tell where it should be set.

I second Gabe on the HiTec servos. I used to like them and had a dozen of them on everyhitng RC. All the sudden EVERY Hitec servo I had went bad on all my various RC's. I sent them back once and get them all fixed but they all went bad again so I switched to JR servos.

I too had every Hitec I owned go bad on me, two 645's and two 5945 digital's all craped out on me in 4 months time.
My dad also put a brand new 645 in his Savage, only to have it quit working after 4 tanks of fuel
Maybe the newer Hitec products are not as good as they used to be?
Ive sence switched to Airtronics and havent looked back

RCDad, if your toe/camber moves around while you surpress the suspension something is installed wrong.
You set everything while your truck is at "ride height" which means, pick up your truck, drop it on the table and wherever it sits by itself is it's "ride height".
The settings you set for it should stay the same throughout the entire suspension travel, otherwise you installed some things wrong.

I just installed a 645... it worked fine for about 5 min. then would start jittering back and forth real fast, finally went full lock to one side and won't release. Is this what happens when they go bad??
