I had a blast there myself. Being 18-20 feet up on the drivers' stand really played with your depth perception at first. Carlton and crew did a great job getting everything together, and even though the spectator turn out wasn't what may have been expected, I think this was definitely a preview of better things to come to the Midwest.
Props go out to all the Chi-town / LH guys that made it out there and gave 'em hell.
My own results weren't what I hoped for in Int. AT...tire and clutch problems in the first two quals. Fixed the clutch and threw on some Bow Ties and began making a better showing. After a short battle back and forth with Kassal in the D-main, Kassal broke and I took 1st. Started 13th in the C-main, and hung back for a few laps while the commotion and pile ups happened, and worked my way through them. I started playing things a little conservative, and not taking any chances like trying to clear the triple (which had paid off in the D). Within the first 4 or 5 minutes, I had worked my way up to 3rd, and was looking at a bump to the B, when I got a little out of shape going through the triple doubles, and landed on a tube. I must have hit it just right that it killed my motor. That put me a lap or lap and a half down, and ended my weekend.
