You need a new crankshaft because you have to gring down a little pin on it to get the bumpstart backplate to fit. It also happens to be what turns the motor when using a pulstart. So on a bumpstart motor it's not there anymore. It's just easier and cheaper to leave it bumpstart and buy a bump box.
I thought the pullstart acts as the backplate while being a pull start?
