Go to control panel, slick on "System", and open the device manager. From there, look for the "Display adapters" click the +, and see if both adapters are listed. Right click on the new adapter, and go to properties. Make sure there are no conflicts. If there are none, click on the on-board adapter, and go to properties. There is an option for Disable Hardware. This should bypass the computer recognizing the on-board, and should boot up with the new adapter.
