Well put. Nobody would even bother posting if we didn't give chit. I think the response you've gotten to this thread speaks to that.
Mr. Tune Wrote:This site stunts growth to the local rc community? Are you kidding? It's the exact oposite. We made have hit a few speed bumps in the last few months, but over the years, I think this site has been a great tool for all the locals. I can't count how many people I've met and how many new friends I've made thanks to the site. I'm sure many other members feel the same way I do.
I remember when I first met a few people bashing in berwyn back in 04. There were only just a few of us bashing in berwyn on saturday mornings, then after this site strarted growing, simply posting about a bash/bbq party in berwyn (late summer 05) resulted in over 50 members showing up! How does that hinder rc growth in this area?? There were over 10 times as many people there on that day than normal. Everyone got along, great food, great times!
This site was never built to make money, it was never built with the intent of national exposure and reach, or become a one stop shop for info for everyone. It was intended to help bring together people with similar interests (rc) who lived in the chicago area. It has done it's job well IMO, and many will agree with me.
For a site that started out with just a few guys looking to meet up with others and have fun running our stuff, it sure has come a long way. While it has gotten quite big and suffered from growning pains, that doesn't mean I should just pull the plug. I'll make the changes to help steer the place in the right direction and get over those hurdles, simple as that.
