Two of the most important areas to reduce drag....where the wheel hub touches the wood block...notice how all surfaces of the wheel have been polished and waxed...all cars tend to rattle around on the track...so reducing wheel-to-track friction whenever possible makes them run slicker..make sure your wheels are true and the axles are level/square to the block, or the wheels try to walk in/out on the axle (does that make sense?)...
and where the outside face of the wheel rubs under the "nail head".... there are usually little areas of flash from the process that forms the head on the nail...remove it and get it smooth as possible or it acts as a brake on the wheel...
