Assistant Judges for the next 2 comps:
Comp #3 (March 15) Jeff S Matt G
Comp #4 (April 5) Jeff S Bob P
Summer comp scouting was discussed, it was brought up that if the location is at a park we need to check with Rangers/city ahead of time to make sure its ok and to make sure if we need a permit. It was generally agreed upon to try to keep comps within a 2hr windo of the meeting location. We are also discussing carpooling to save gas.
Summer Comp Series "Buy-In" was discussed/voted on. It was decided that their would be a $5 entry fee for 1 class $7.50 if you are entering 2 classes. Money raised would go to permits for locations and to buying year end prizes.
The idea of Shirts/Hats/Stickers was discussed. Most places for T-shirts require a 25 piece min order with 5 of each color min. Prices ranged from $8.50-$10 each. We are looking around for lower pirces locally. We are currently looking for a place to have stickers printed.
There was also discussion/reminder that HobbyTown USA give SCRC members a 10% discount. This Discount INCLUDES rc4wd parts. As a riminder, you must attend a club meeting/work day to signup for the discount.
Leisure Hours Raceway:
LHR recently contacted us to help them design a crawling course for their facility near Joliet IL. 3 Members (Jeff S, Matt G, Matt P) met with Bernie today (Mar 9). We looked over the area and discussed plans. The area they are starting with is approx 35' across and approx 5' tall with the possibility of a large expansion if things go well. The plans we discussed would be to dig out/shape the hill side into climbs, valleys, shelfs etc. Then lay a coating of 1"-2" of concrete over the area along with insetting some large rocks/boulders into the hillside. We would then use the large amount of rocks they have available along with possibly some concrete field tile (tunnels) on the flat area to expand the crawling area. (They have an endloader available for moving the rocks). LHR is a RadioControl Raceway and thus they get all of their money from racing therefore, they are planning to charge a fee for comps. At this point howev er, practice will be free as long as you have a GSM radio. Also, if the club helps with the construction of the course we are negotiating for a couple of free dates hosted by the club. The dates they charge would not be club hosted events. They are looking to start construction as soon as the ground thaws and will stay in touch with us.
