This is why we run these threads for a month or two before a bash/bbq. 3-4 years ago. If someone posted up about a get-together in Berwyn 3 days in advance, there would be 10-20 people there. Now, we post about it for a month or more, and get nothing but "Why don't you ever do this on Sunday's, I can make Sunday's" or "This weekend is no good, how about xxxx" (This reply usually results in about 5 other posts refering to weekends that are good for each other person, NONE of which ever match up to other requests).
For a while, everyone had gotten too serious about racing, and couldn't afford to take a chance of breaking something before the big race that weekend (Which more often than not, was a club race for bragging rights only).
We started calling it a BBQ, encouraging people to just come hang out, get to meet some of the other guys, with no need to run their truck/car/buggy. This past weekend, I never even started my Truck or Buggy. I spent most of the time talking to people I haven't seen in a year, Cooking on the grill, and laughing at the Dog...
