It is the peak detection. When charging at a higher rate (2 Amps and up) it is better to set the detection higher, which will help prevent false peaking. When charging at lower speeds, lower the detection, to get a higher peak.
Usually, what I do when charging my Rx battery, is to charge at 1.0 amp with a higher detection rating (5 or 6 Mv). When that cycle is done, I will start it again at .1 amp and turn the detection all the way down to 3Mv.
