MY no front plate experience.
Police pulled me over and pointed out I didn't have a front plate. I played dumb (not tough). The officer asked if I had another car. I answered yes. He asked "Does it have the same license plate number as this one?"
So that's where the cops used to be coming from on the subject. They figure you "split" the set of plates between two cars and saved the fees for one.
I now run front plates. I don't need to give the police an open invitation to having a conversation with me about anything, anytime.
