but all of them people working there (3 at the time) said t-maxx over savage x
Well I know it wasn't me then I also work there and I'll tell you what I tell customers when I'm asked what I recommend, If you're going to race it-go Revo, If you're going to bash it-go Savage, if you want to get into that class of RC thats fast and cheap plus have plenty of hop ups to chose from, get the Maxx. There's a good reason the Savage doesn't have the aftermarket support the Maxx does, it's a whole lot tougher in all cases from what I've seen come in for parts or work. I'm not too sure about immediate parts availabilty since we haven't gotten anything in for the truck just yet, but 6-10 months seems a bit of a stretch, weeks maybe, but not months. Traxxas isn't much better that HPI on that either, when the 2.5 Maxx came out we had one that was severly wrecked almost immediatly (I think a shed across the street from the young owner and high speed was involved IIRC) and it took around a month to get the 2.5 Maxx specific parts to fix it. The only real advantage Traxxas as a whole has over most of the other hobby companies in general (as everything that we carry) let alone HPI is spectacular customer service that goes well beyond what they should in a few cases I've heard about. If you want to come in and talk to me I'll be there from 10am-5pm tomorrow (3/4/06) and 11am-5pm Sunday (3/5/06).
