Freaking Dell Laptop

Right, so I'm in the final semester of my senior year at college, and my Dell laptop was the world to me. Then the other day it suffered what I can only determine to be catastrophic hardware failure. When it tries to boot the screen shows a bunch of jibbberish, when turns completley white, then goes black and becomes completely unresponsive. I don't have to tell anyone who's been down the college route how much crap I had saved on my hard drive. A new laptop is on the way as I can't afford to mess with Dell's customer service (most of whom are based in India) right now. All I can say is AAARRRRGH. Sorry, I just wanted to vent.
