AND.....on road racing will cost you in tires. They may be cheaper than off road MT or buggy tires, and they are handy (premounts) but you can grind off a full set in a day of racing...factor that into what you will run.
BUT...if you go onraod electric, you can race indoors all winter long at IRP in DeKalb.
MT (Revo) or truggy, both very flexible trucks. You can play with them, you can race with them. I use the Revo most because it's handier to run than the road car (empty parking lot required).
Unless you are in love with flat pavement racing, I'd look hard at a MT or Truggy. GT is a little cheaper to get into, but I personally wouldn't go bash a GT (unless it's a Jato).
