All you have is Venture HObbies.....that place has more stock then any Hobby Town in the area. They also have more knowledge regarding everything R/C then any hobby town in the Chicagoland area.

I'm not sure how much knowledge certain people who work at Venture have? I had one guy telling me that the Revo was not a racing truck, but a basher. He said the LST was a race machine...LOL. Probably just trying to move thier stock of dusty LST's that have been sitting for a while. This was a guy in the rc department not a plane guy so I'd think he should know what he's talking about. Save the headache and go to Al's, it's worth the extra drive time.

Venture is certainly stocked. But really far for me to drive. I was also given the wrong parts for my RC10GT. I even made sure to ask twice if THEY were sure it was right, of course I was assured that the parts were correct. To my dismay when I got home. They were wrong. But other than that a great Hobbie shop. But I think I'll order my parts through Chicagoland Hobby and pick them up, its closer to my house.

Plus once Leisure Hours opens, I can get parts at the track. Once I get comfortable enough with my truck to race it.

I like hobby town in aurora. Sometimes one of the guys there gives some bad advice to some people (steel spurs, k&n filter, ect.), but he has always been helpful towards me, and so have the other employees.

Rob,
I have to agree. Friendly enough guys. Always generally have what I came in for, or are always quick to special order it.
It's WAY better than it was about a year ago........

I ordered my Dynamite Mill from Chicagoland Hobby on a wednesday and they got it on Friday. The guy told me he can get most orders in a couple of days.

I was just at Venture a couple of days ago . They had the Mini T and the RC18, dont quote me on it, I would call first to verify. But I am pretty sure a salesperson was showing it to this guy and his kid.

I usually get stuff at Hobby town saint charles, AL's, or venture since they are all about the same drive from my house. By far I'd say AL's has the most stuff, Then Venture, then Hobby town but quality of people working there is a different story. That would go AL's 1st, Hobby town 2nd, then Venture. Venture has a bunch of.. umm.. (to say it nicely) morons working there.

how are they on the price of special orders? I never had to have them do that.

Always have the manual with you when you buy parts, or make them pull their copy out.

Leisure Hours has the best selection AND the best RC salespeople. Close second would be Al's.
Bill, that's cool they opened a HT out by you, gives you more of a selection incase HW doesn't have what you need.

LH has a great selecion of parts, but I would have to say their customer service isn't the best. The few times I have been there I have to always ask for someone to help me, even though there have been 5 people behind the counter not doing anything. Atleast at hobby town they always ask if I need some help. I prefer the hobby town in St. Charles even though it's further away then the one in Aurora.

you just have to get to know the people at LH. It was the way you descibed when I first started going there too. I swore at one point I would never go back.

Actually it wasnt 100% their fault. Associateds side exhaust manifold for pullstart was either packaged wrong or just wrong cause it ran into my pullstart. I ended up having to use the nonpullstart manifold.

You pay list for special orders, except you get 10% off if you pay on Mon or Weds.

I'll go back if it's something I need in a hurry, but otherwise I'll stick to hobby town in St. Charles or online.
