Trust me on this one... You get a larger down pipe (either 2 1/2 or 3") and run that with a reducer through the cat and stock exhaust. Then you have a second option... to have a remotely operated actuator that opens a gate on the side of the down pipe. This allows the exhaust to go through the larger DP and then vent right out into the air. For normal driving you leave it closed and run through the stock exhaust where the extra performance isn't needed. I originally wanted a nice stainless exhaust but why spend the almost $1000 more when I can get better top end performance while staying sleeper?? I want my car to look stock. Heck I'll leave the bike rack on there...

Oh and I think the stock exhaust on a GTI may be 2" already so that isn't a worry for around town driving. Another cool thing is that if I run a straight dump off of the DP it will shoot fireballs under the car. Hehe...

slow down freeride!!!! take a couple deep breaths!!! you do not have to explain performance to me! i am ase cert in performance! i know what i'm talking about! if you wanna run through a stock exhaust do it, your choice. the dumps are a great idea, they work great on the strip! put the dumps on and keep the stock exhaust if thats what you want!!
p.s. when your done wanna race!!! never tried german rice!!!!! j/f/w/y

If I wanted German Rice I'd throw a fart pipe on and get a NOS sticker. I'm doing it right for a reason. If I'm not racing I don't need the performance or noise of a full exhaust. If I am I will have the least restrictive option possible. The best of both worlds. I should have the intake ordered shortly...

Sure what the hell... shit I'd race a pinto if it lined up next to me and the driver gave me an evil look. I'm easily lured into an excuse to speed... :-)

So is anyone going to be out cruising Saturday night?? (The 15th) I, along with a few buddies of mine, may be out and will most likely make an appearance at Straats. Just figured I'd throw it out there...

Sorry even though I live 20 mins from strats there will be no cruising for me tonight. I can neither confirm or deny that I may or may not have a next gen gaming system at my disposal until tomorow.

A great night cruising. I ordered my intake but didn't get it in for tonight. I did however get a 5 hour trial of the Revo performance chip put on. All I can say is oh my god. I can't wait to rake together the $500 to get that sucker. I saw some dyno sheets and was amazed too. Looks to go from about 160 hp at the wheels to 220. I had it up to 140mph tonight and it wanted to keep pulling. It's amazing the potential of the stock turbo. I was at Strats for a while (got a killer burnout on video) and then we cruised around and ended up at four corners. Beautiful night...

sounds fun! yeah those chips on the 1.8T's will boost around 40-50hp for $500....that's the best bang for buck besides NOS and it's alot safer.

Yeah... I have heard plenty of nitrous horror stories with the 1.8t. I think it's pretty much a bandaid for a poor tuner. (Unless the car is maxxed out power wise and you want just a little bit more...)
