I'm sure many of you know this but many RC shock oil weights are way off as to their true viscosity ratings. Just like motor HP ratings, there is no standard yet. Unlike SAE ratings for oil viscosity in autos where a 10w/30 by Havoline is the same as Pennzoil, RC oil weights are not the same.
I've noticed that Mugen 50 weight is nothing like Trinity 50 weight. This article explains more:

Keep in mind when racing at LH this winter to use a lighter weight oil as the air temp will be very cold at track level.

That's kind of interesting. It's agood thing I won't need to worry about that untill I get the "Driver Skill" portion out of the way. After I spend some track time pretty stock (just getting the feel of the revo) then I will switch to FOC and start messing more with suspension settings...

Awesome find Satoch.... Very cool..... Just didnt agree with the very last line. it says never use downtravel limiters...That might be slighty out of date info... With today truggies down travel is often limited to control body roll ( i think thats how it was explained to me)

Its funny how nothing is standardized... Next week we will read about a test that shows temp has no affect on oils.
I love this hobby, we take what the newest article says, and ashere to it like it the bible, til the next article says something different.
There need to be a standardizing agency for RC parts and accessaries...LOL

Rocco, I didn't agree with the last line either but the rest is valid and very useful.
George, I agree that there needs to be a standardizing agency for RC parts and accessories. I think ROAR or Pro Series should have a division doing just that. If this hobby is to grow into a viable sport these things must happen. I'm sure people made light of such matters as you do during the growth of most other sports.

The way it was explained to me is the reason we 100% pure silicone oils is because they are less affected by temp than say a petroleum oil.....
