You're talking about the very wet saturday bash?? Good luck. I won't be there either if it stays wet. Like I said... not risking it with a brand new revo.

Honestly I would...

However:

Then I need to explain all of the nice new parts to the 'rents.
Why I have no money... to the 'rents,
I need to save for college... for my sake.

I would like to upgrade some parts because I want to and don't have to. If something breaks at a bash that is one thing. To go out knowing I will probably fry something is another.

And briefly what is so much better about a single servo conversion running a better servo??

i'm guessing here but i would suspect less battery consumption? idk though

Hardly seems worth Dropping $100 on a good servo and redoing the whole steering setup... hmmm. Weight maybe?? I got it! Only one to seal. :-) Ok I'm done. :-(

A GOOD ($119) servo will:

use less battery
eliminate weight
be stronger than two stockers
be faster than stock
have a cleaner/stronger single lingage

You could just smear thick grease all around the servos at the case seams. That will keep water out unless you sink the buggy. Then you can wipe it off and degrease it later. Grease the output shaft where it exits the case to keep dirt and water out of there, too. Shoo goo the spot where the wires exit the servos.

Saw a neat trick about grease packing the outdrive cups to keep dirt from getting in there and causing wear. Grease pack and then a wrap of tape to keep the grease from flinging out or dirt getting in from the sides. Looked pretty logical to me.

That's a good idea dave until you collect 1lb worth of dirt on all the grease you packed all over the RC.

At least he can clean it off later (see how I said "he can"). And the servos will still be alive.
Maybe the extra weight will slow him down a little?
I also saw a suggestion (MikeH?) about plastidip for the servo cases.

yeah the weight of the accumilated dirt won't be the problem, it's the clean up later that would suck

I just threw it out as something he could do on short notice with simple materials he might have on hand. Clean up would be nasty. Since it's raining pretty good today they prolly won't make it out there unless they're really into mud bogging!

Yeah I didn't go. I will probably go on saturday though no matter what. I plan on getting some plasti dip and doing the servos today. I am going to use RTV gasket maker to make a gasket for all of the boxes (Run a line on the lip and close the top) and am goint to RTV all of the wire exits or entrances to any box or servo. I am going to then take dialectric grease and put a bit at the servo output where the horn attches. That should make it waterproof except for the air intake. I should be able to take a hose to the whole thing if all goes well. Or I will fry $200 in electronics. Whatever works.

Saw a tip about using a small o-ring, along with grease, on the servo output shaft to shield away water. Just don't make it too thick or it rubs between the arm and the case.
