general revo discussion
practice, practice, practice.... That's what makes you improve the most out of anything.

Steve, give it a little time and you will do a lot better.

I know I will get better. I just got to go slower and make sure I can stay smooth and make the jump or roll it.

Is a Mccoy mc59 too hot of a plug to use with 33%? I was thinking a mc8 or mc9 might be a better choice.
Reply
I used MC59's with 30% so I don't see why not....

no mc59s are the best..................i have tried all 3 plugs with 30% and mc59 lasted the longest

Yeah, I've been using a mc59 for a while now and it seems to be a good plug. What got me thinking about a cooler plug is that in my LST2 they say a cooler plug like a mc8 or mc9 is what should be used with the higher nitro content (30%) so that got me thinking the mc59 might be too hot for the Revo.
Reply
I've been using a MC59 with 30% in my Revo w/ a Sirio .23 and it seems to be fine. On the true BB engines I've been using MC8's

mc8 or mc59, either one in a smallblock will work good.

mc9, mc8 with 30% in a true BB

Ok, I'm way too lazy to reread the thread and look for this answer....

With the stock 2.5R and I sitch to 30% fuel (prollly OD's) do I need to shim the motor, or just adjust my plug choice. Or both? If shim is required, what size?

Thank you, I'll hang up now and listen for the answer.

I've converted many smallblocks from 20% to 30%, just gas up and go. Make sure the tune is ok, that's it.

I've never switched a plug or shimmed due to upping the nitro content.
Actaully I just got a 2.5 with my new maxx and I switched to 30% and just went balls out...it runs good.

yeah you dont need to shim......if your temps are getting high, then buy a shim at LH and put it on and thattll drop the temps like 30*

does anyone on here have the center diff for the revo??? if so what oil are ya running?

Im running 100k in it right now and on the indoor track its perfect, but on the outdoor track the front tires ballon. so they make 300k but i think thats a bit much, so i think im gonig to buy some 300k and some100k and mix it, then that should give me about 200k right??

Save yourself the guessing and try 300 first. Then if that is too thick you can thin it out some.

Got a quick question for everyone. I am new to the Revo scene coming off of a 2 year truggy venture...lol

I just purchased a 18TZ and was wonderign what pipe would best suit this engine.

I was looking at the Vantage pipe but don't like the Associated GT style wrap around pipe holder. Has anyone used this pipe?

I was also looking at the THS set for Revo. I have a Trinity high flow and a stocker right now but I was told the Trinity would nto fit the OS 18's

Thanks

im running the ths pipe on my tz and it seems to work...i plan on trying a few tanks with my stock pipe with a drilled stinger. i will let you know how it goes
Reply
The Trinity should fit the O.S. (I'm not 100% sure but I don't see why it wouldn't) with the small block header. Some people don't care for it, but I liked the Trinity pipe and it worked well (although I had it on a .21)

The THS is also a good choice, I've heard alot of good things about it.

ths for a revo is an awesome pipe, with one kinda big exception.

It uses a non-standard exhaust gasket. I had messed mine up, and a regular 1/10 scale gasket won't fit because the header is too small. I measured it against a 18tm header I had lying around and it is definately smaller. I now have a ths pipe sitting around that I can't even used until I find the stupid gasket.

Tried the OS header? As for the 2.5 and the THS header. I had a problem with finding a good gasket. Had to take the pipe off for awhile because it acted like something was plugging or binding. Finally figured out a large chunk of the gasket came off and was in the pipe and it would block it causing the problem I was having. I now use a GS gasket. But I forget if I have to shave off the inside rib to make it fit right. It is a tad bit to long also which is how that chunk got into the pipe.
I think you can order new gaskets from THS also.

Yeah the GS one from LH... What you do is put it about 1/2 way on the engine, and then push the pipe onto it making it go the rest of the way. Makes a great seal and works fine. It is a PITA that some companies just can't use regular gaskets, ain't it?

My combo has always been an os manifold seal (the one that goes on the block), and THS pipe. I have had nothing but good luck with the THS pipe. I used it on the 2.5, 3.3, tz, tm. Never lacked power for me.

Thanks for the replies, I'm still learning on this Revo....lol

Guess I'll pick the THS pipe up adn give it a try.

The purple gasket that comes on the Jammin pipes is alot thinner than a standard gasket, has anyone tried that yet? I'm talking about the one that goes where the pipe and manifold meets. Just a thought.

im running the o.s. header on my revo, and does anyone know what a good gasket is for that manifold??? I had the THS ones and went through both of them pretty quick, they keep burning up and the chunks go into the pipe

Are you asking about the silicone exhaust coupler? The item that is zip tied onto the outside of the exhaust?
Reply
for the manifold to block I use the os gasket. On the THS pipe between the manifold and pipe the stock one they supply works great. Most I went was 4 gallons before it finally started ripping and I needed to replace it.
