Mayhem ST suspension
#1
Okay here it goes...

My suspension is stock and nothing has changed.
I did put in 10K diff oil in center diff to prevent the front wheels from spinning out.
I also put in a 12T CB from the stock 13T CB.

Here is my problem.

The truck tends to want to flip on turns and no I am not doing it sharp.
It seems to me a bit loose and not staying down to the ground.
Also when I do jump at all the front end I can get up enough and lands more like nose diving.
Also when braking the front end dips down hard.

What can I do to be able to have more control on my turns and also get my front end up higher on jumps when I choose to do so?

My thought was the sway bars are to heavey and need to be lighter?
As for the jumping---I dunno.
What if I put on different tires and rims not making it so wide?

With these two things it is a bit hard to drive off road on hills and jumps---the flat surfaces is not so bad.
It does not jitter but more like does the skipping across the rougher terrain.
I am use to driving 1/10 trucks and I do know this truck is just a matter of feeling it out.

What suggestions ya have out there for the this truggy?

Answer a few more questions:
1) ride height: (arms level, below or above level)
2) shock oils what weight?
3) brake bias?

Also sounds like you are traction rolling into turns, what wheels and tires? and what surface are you running on when this happens

Also, did you say when you jump it always wants to land on its front end?

Questions to add to George's list:

Springs (stock?)
How fast are you going when you turn in and flip it?
Stock tires? Stock front end settings?
Jumping off throttle or on throttle?

Oils in shock are what ever was in there when I got it.
Setting are the same for shocks.
The shock shafts are 64mm front and rear. I was thinking on 54mm in the front.
All settings are stock but the diff is the only thing I changes out side the 12t CB.

Rear based on dogbones are level but the front is a bit on the high side(above).
From my old days I kepts my dogbones level for the most part and if there were lots of jumps I made them a bit higher.
Tires are the stock one that came with it. Traction does not seem to be much an issue with the stock tires.

The feeling I get is suspension....I either over or under correct it but can never seem to find that happy medium on my own with controlling it.
If it was a Savage---I got it down with the driving.

Second part ot questions.
When I turn and it depends on turn I try to coast it a bit with minimal throttle----otherwise it for sure will flip when it grabs.
As for jumps---not full throttle when approcahing but when I hit the jump I go full tthrottle to get the back end to drop. If I back off the throttle then the front end drops fast in the air---no brakes use during this. I know this plays a part as well.

The surface I am running on is dirt in a motocross track.

Biodragen, check out the S-Grid Horizon/Mayhem forum. The guys on there can fill you in better than most here. Only one guy here runs an ST and he just got it.

I would be willing to bet money that it is your sway bar. If you ahve traction and take a turn too sharp (hardly sharp at all sometimes) it will roll. I took them off of my storm because if it wasn't a fairly loose track it would roll. Check it out.

A smooth high bite track is exactly where you want a sway bar! It transfers some of the weight from the outside wheel to help keep the inside wheel planted and getting traction!

My driving style was adapted to not using a sway bar and I turned faster laps without them. If I went in too hot it would traction roll...
