At least received my S-maxx, it was sent yesterday... I just need to stop by walmart and get some batteries. Walmart has WD-40 too, right? I hope break-in will go well

Alright, now I have a problem. When I start the engine, it starts driving by itself. I also don't need blue smoke. And it gets pretty hot, maybe 150 or so in few seconds. Also, from exhaust you can feel a little wet coming out. When I pinch the fuel line it takes about 8 or 10 secs before it stops. Please help...

it tends to do that durring the break in process, after tha 4 tanks (i think) u can start tuning it, and the"wet" is oil from the fule, just means its running rich like u want it to for break in. just do what it sais and u will be all good.

The idle may be too high. Also check the manual
and make sure you have the correct initial needle settings. The break-in process can be a little frustrating. You may even go through a couple of glow plugs before it's through. Following the break-in instructions carefully and you will have a nice running, strong engine. Just like TowShen said, once the break-in process is complete you can start tuning for performance. TRC
Is it bad if I let it idle one tank before break in?

Alright, it seems to work fine now. I didn't do any throttle yet. Should I do after-run, since I wanna break it in tomorrow, or since it's not broken it leave it like that?
Thanks

It's fine to idle it for a whole tank for the first time. On many engines it is recommended. High idle will cause the truck to start driving itself. If it takes 8-10 seconds to shut off via the fuel tube, then it's running pretty rich, which is good for break in.
I never used after run oil either. I've gone to like 3 gallons on my current engine, and don't have any problems. Still makes awesome power, even more than when it was new.

Soooo, you recommend not using after run oil? lol, I just bought at Walmart, good it's just $1.77.... Maybe I'll use it who knows.

I use after run (WD-40) in my engine and set it to BDC after every run. Watch the DVD and pay attention to exactly how they tell you to run the engine. I have broken in the 2.5 before and it gets a little touchy sometimes, but leave it rich and drive it patiently....You will be rewarded.

you don't need after run oil if your breaking it in more tomorrow. It's when it sits for weeks is when you really need the stuff.

I use after run oil after each time I run my truck. I also put the piston at bdc as well. I figure if I'm going to take the time to clean my truck why not take an extra couple minutes to add the after run oil.

everytime you take out the glow plug or take off the air filter to complete after run your engine is way at risk for dirt to get in there and really cause damage. My "after run" procedure consists of cleaning the air filter, cleaning the truck, and charging the rec. pack. I use oil if I know I won't be running my truck for a few weeks, that's it.

I rarley ever use after run in mine. only if they are going to be sitting but I especialy use after run if I was running in wet conditions or if its going to sit in the garage when its damp in there. I always make sure my piston is not at top dead center after I run it. I use marvel mystery oil for afterrun. Good stuff.. much better imo that WD40 because the marvel is thicker and seems to coat everythig inside the engine very well. Also most of the RC after run oils are marvel oil anyhow. Hobbico after run, racers choice after run.. its all Marvel oil.

yeah I use hobbico or somethin'(when I use it). nice thick pink oil.

Hobico is the same stuff I have as well. Never use it unless the truck is going to sit for a while, which doesn't happen very often.
