Wheel Nuts Coming Off
#1
I have not had this problem until yesterday at the track. my wheel nuts kept coming loose. As some of you might know, my wheel came off during the main. i would tighten them down before I went on the track and after 5 minutes they would be loose enough to come off. Anybody else have this problem?

I don't want to make a new thread, but does proline make wabash wheels in standard maxx size. They don't have them on their site, so I am guessing no.

Get new wheel nuts, your nylon washer is probably dead=no locking action. No, wabashes only are in 40 series. I wish they'd go standard.

Over time, the nylon inserts wear out, and no longer hold tight. A new set of wheel nuts should solve your problem

Replace the nuts !!! <-- man that sounds weird.

LOL snakebite. Looks like I will be getting new nuts. I put a regular 5mm lock nut on their, but it doesn't get like coned near the bottom. It has a smaller diameter and seems like the rim has a greater chance of ripping off.

+1 on Proline making wabash rims for standard.

Hmmm--new nuts---LOL

Well since you have small nuts wearing out why not upgrade.
Hey better yet as the girfriend or wife about getting new nuts---see what she thinks
Of upgrading to 8MM nuts---LOL

How about the Traxxas aluminum blue anodized ones? If not, what else does everyone run/suggest.

Thanks

If you are running UE CVD's you can actually double nut them. If not just replace them with a new nylon lock nut and put a washer underneath them.

Yeah, I've bashed with people who've had this problem. Get an extra set of nuts and put two nuts on each axle, the first normally and the second one backwards (nylon first). This effectively creates a "jam nut" that won't come off until you take it off. Later - DaveB :joy:

I have had the same set of wheel nuts for a long long time. Use a drop of blue loctite on them before installation. They are not a pain to get off yet they stay tight. Best, cheapest, most reliable way to solve that problem.

I had no problem with axle nuts, it was the darn pillow ball caps that were backing out like crazy!! Looks like the setscrew solution is on the way.

I might go with the Pro-line 23mm or the Dace. The Dace one is a little more expensive, but well worth it. I might go with that if I still am having problems with 14mm nuts coming loose.

I don't have room with the MIP cvds to put two on.
