Receiver Pack / Hump Pack
#1
I bought a receiver pack for my Savage yesterday, 600mAh Rechargable. It said on the package to charge for 14 hours? ok, so I did. I went out and ran my truck today for a little over an hour and the receiver pack died.

Anyone know how long a 600mAh battery pack should last?

Its running the receiver, 1 Hitec 645MG servo, the two standard HPI servos that come with the truck (one for reverse and one for throttle/brack) and a Venom failsafe.

Now after doing a quick search on eBay I see that I bought a small receiver pack, for about twice the price as I could have bought one off of eBay for. I will be ordering a new Ofna receiver pack shortly, more then twice the capacity of the one I have and $10.00 cheaper then what I already paid.

Look like I will only be hitting the local hobby shop for gas from now on.

A 600 Mah pack will not last a very long time, especially with the Hitec 645MG servo. The higher torque servos will drain more juice from a battery pack. Your best bet, is to run for a little while with that pack, but keep an eye out for a good 1100 or 1200 Mah pack. This is the MINIMUM you should run, with 3 servos, one of which is a high torque. HPI has a good 1200 Mah pack.

I've got a 1200mA hump pack. I always charge it before I run the truck, and have never run into problems. 600mA is way too small.

Head over to AL's hobby shop and ask them for a hump pack for a savage. That's what I did, since I didn't know what to get at the time. They didn't steer me wrong. It's like $25.

The heck with those 1100mah and 1400mah here is what you want! I have a 2700mah on my Maxx and I can run all day! Wink

You'll be happy with the 1400. It will give you plenty of bashing time.

the 2700 weighs alot more than the 1400, but I guess that only concerns those weight conscious drivers like myself. I run the 1200 and have had great luck with no dead hump packs yet and I run a 645 and 357 airtronics.

I run a Trinity 1150mah NIMH pack. with the digital coreless high torque servos I run I get about an hours worth of runtime, tops. I need a better rec. pack, and a spare.

I don't dig the 2700mah ones.

Why don't you like the 2700mah? Is it because of where it mounts? If so here is one that mounts right where stock battery box is and they don't weigh all that much more then a standard hump pack (1.5-2.0 oz more). I have had this battery for over a year and have never ended the day because of a low battery and I run a Airtronics 94358Z ERG-VB Hi-Torque 200 oz for steering a JR standard servo for the throttle and a Cirus high torque mg servo for the break. It last longer then I do.

I hear you on the BIG mah reading. I don't like the size and weight. I think it's overkill. I'm not dissin' your parts man I just wouldn't buy that for myself. I'm about running out of options though, I need a higher capacity RX pack.

I see where your coming from. I am a basher so, I am not worried about a few oz's here and there. This truck only weighs 10 1/2 lbs.
