Ebay part out
#1
Just an interesting observation.

I recently sold my LRM / T-Maxx roller on Ebay for $610...the winning bidder is a guy who purposely buys high end r/c's and parts them out for profit.

Because this was my truck that I built, my specific parts were easily indentifiable. Knowing this, I actually tracked my entire Maxx part by part and watched it as the auction timed out.

The end result was $843.95
Approximate profit = $233.95

Now subtract the disassembly time, photography, packaging time, time it takes to list and edit all decriptions, any listing fees, etc....

What do you think the actual profit was on this transaction?

Was it rcwaffle or whatever his name is? Cuz I am about to sell my 4 rcs and hope I catch a bid from him

Lets say he spent 6 hours doing all the listing, packaging, driving to the post office, photographing, etc etc etc. Then lets say he had 30 dollars of listing fees. So thats about 200 left, he made about 50 an hour, was it worth 50 an hour to you>

I was starting to think that I might want to do the same thing people are doing-buying off ebay, parting, and selling for profit. Is it really that great of a buisness?

Kids...stay in school :p:

200/6hrs. = $33.3 per hour
Inherent risk in the auction not going as planned can really kill that number.
You won't get rich on it but it's not bad $$ for effort put into it.

Yes...it was rcwaffle
Funny part was some of those parts were bought from him the first time. lol
