Deans Connectors
#1
I was having problems with my fail safe on my xxx-nt2. Marshals would stare at my like, "cars running dude, whatcha want". My Pit guy (Tex I think) fiddled with the wires, and off I go. Well no more. I saw on Slims buggy he used Deans connectors and eliminated the switch, I decided it was time for a rewire. I ran the wires straight to the reciever and sodered to the pins. Anyone else do this? I did not want to use Deans on that tiny receiver wire. No warranty but wtf, it works now so it should stay working. Knock Knock Confusedmash:

Thanks snake, atleast after all these years in the auto field I can solder a wire. =P Big Grin

Was wondering if anyone else does this and if they solder straight to the reciever or still use the reciever plug. I think I saw Slim and Mike C. using deans...

Yup.. I've done exactly what you did on all my Rc's since the laste 90's but I go extreme overkill on the wire size.. Its all Deans wet noodle (12 or 14ga I believe) wire. Plus since I have Deans Ultra plugs on all my chargers already its super easy to charge my RX packs. I've Never had a single problem with this setup in all these years and I don't expect to! Switches go bad randomly or can cause glitching because dirt gets in there and causes the switch to loose contact as the engine vibrates.

I ran the 14ga.. I tinned the pins, then pushed the wire over without any splice. The 12 ga. was too fat and I couldnt get any servo wires in there, but I used 12ga. for my charger.
Now im ready to build my own packsIdea Anyone know where to get loose cells in a high Mah. rating? Any advantage to building packs over buying ready made? And are reciever cells the same sold for mini's like the rc18?
Thanks,Kevin Confusedalute:

teamhelotes.com has 2600mah cells

I did that for awhile but i just buy them built now. I currently use deans connectors, but its a paint in the ass splicicing the wires and stuff, and my connectors are starting to get a bit iffy, i will proly go back to the switch

I used to run deans on my LSP. BUt they where a pain to plug in and un plug trackside. At one race trying to unlplug it the wires pulled off the plug. So I said forget this going back to the on off switch with a charge lead. I know they can go bad randomly, but I change them once a year just to be safe.

I do the same as George........Not because he does it,=P just find it simple that way. I've had good luck using the Airtronics switches with charging leads built in.
