I love my GTI but that new one is BAD!! I have my second interview tomorrow and am working tuesday so I may go wednesday to test drive one. It sucks that even if I chip mine I would only be a little faster than those... That and the auto version is .5 seconds faster 0-60. I think everyone can stop bashing autos now. Can't miss a shift and don't need to worry about perfect shifts every time...

i still dont care if an auto is faster and more accurate than a stick i still think that if ur gonna buy a little sports car then it needs to be stick especially for things like racing cuz then its more of the driver than the car.

I agree that stick is more fun to drive than auto and a lot of racing is driving. However... if an auto is faster than a manual under identical conditions then no driver will make the manual faster than the same driver in the auto...

Stick gives you way more control.
In my Max I would be able to go brake, go into a turn in third/second and accelerate out. On an auto, it would hesitate while it searches for the right gear.
Also, it makes me cringe every time I press the gas expecting a pull but feel the gears changing while the engine accelerates.
(Drove stick Max up until a few months ago when grandma driver totalled it. 2001 with a 2004 engine/6 speed trans. Now driving 2004 auto Camry.)

I drive mine in slap stick so I still get to downshift on my own going into turns. The new GTI has a 6 speed auto with paddle shifters...

If paddle shift semi-auto trans is good enough for Ferrari, it's good enough for me.

Someone is jealous. LoL They are badass. Plus chip that little weak car and it goes from about 180 at the wheels to about 255. I think that is a damn decent amount of power in a small car. Hell mine would go from 150 or so at the wheels to about 215-220 at the wheels...

I know. I saw pictures of yours. I would not even try to compete. Out of the 4-cylinder world they are by far my favorite stock though. (Even though not the fastest...)

That is great Rocco. The thing is that you have a few years on me... I will get there. All I was saying was that for a 4 cylinder it makes good power, looks good, sounds good... it's just a pretty nice car.

And when I am 18 I will have (getting done this summer) Turbo GTI, Chip, intake, lowered, rear sway bar, cutout 3in. down pipe. It should be fairly quick. I think it would run with that GT.

Let's see, when I was 18 I had a Kawasaki LTD1000 that ran 11.50's on pump gas and cost me $1800 to buy.
I still say FAST comes with only 2 wheels, not four.

Bikes are nice but my good friend almost dies when a lady ran a stop sign. He was in a coma for a month and they were surprised he made it. That is enough of a reason for me to stick to 4...

I didn't say they were safer...that very reason is why I just sold my Kaw 1100. I couldn't trust all the cell phone talking SUV driving morons in Naperville not to run me over.

I think the new comercials are funny but I'm not keen on the cars look plus WTF happened to them? the Mk V's have a 3352lb curb weight! being that heavy I'd not call them a small car anymore. I can get my Camaro close to that weight by taking out the spare tire, Jack, subs, and amp.

They are definitely getting heavier. I think that the chassis is getting more and more rigid along with it but I think that they could do it with a lot less weight. I also know that that weight is fully loaded, leather power seats... a good amount of stuff that adds weight but that is still a lot.
