Finally a good starting gate!

I bet thats how it works for a qual, then in the main they all get dropped at the same time. You cant really have a staggered start in a main like that..

Why not?
Do you guys think its because the last place guy would be letting go when the first place is coming around already?
If so, did you notice how fast that gate was dropping them?
I dont think it would be a problem, and besides, whats the point of qualifing if they were all dropped at the same time?

whats the point of a head to head race when you start a lap behind?

You wouldn't be a lap behind. The last place guy was dropped maybe like 5 seconds after the first guy.

on that big of a track there will be 12 racers in a main I'm sure and the gate can do drops betweens cars from 1-3 seconds depending on how the director sets the sequence up.

that means 12 seconds for all cars to drop minimum

If I had to come up with a gate I would have so all would drop at the same time. but off set the starting line so the first car would be ahead of the second and so on. droping one at a time is a bad deal for the last guy not only is he say 10 seconds behind when dropped. the first guy down is at full speed for ten second and would be hard to catch for some one who is already slower in Q's. But like I said before no gate is a good gate.Confusedmash:

Go to the bottom of this page and click on watch our video. This is why the gate starts are gone and look at the effect and 0 crashes in the start. Exactly how a race should be. Rc Pro series made a great choice throwing the gates away. http://www.5spoke.com/site.php?op=media&...723&page=1

Yep, and look how far apart the grid is before they drop the flag. About 5 feet between cars. So the leader has a 50' lead on the last guy, but they all start at the same time. Seemed to work out just fine for those guys. Of course, they're good!

yeah, what good sportsmen, actually using brakes...sheesh! If they are slowing down, pass 'em! If they are way going too slow and won't move, flash the brights and then ram 'em!! j/k.
