Today i raced my revo at my local Hobbytown USA, which is in Crystal Lake. I just started racing my Revo this season and last week i did great, my truck was running awesome and i was getting just enough traction on the onroad track with my Bowties however i was also running really rich. This week i threw on some Sportraxx Tires on Sportmaxx rims onto my Revo to try out on their track and it sucked. I also had the motor leaned out more so it was running 215 in the 75-80 degree temps, but i made sure i got around 3 seconds on the pinch test and plenty of smoke. I could not stop flipping over on the turns from the power, and coming out of the corners i couldn't keep the front tires down either. I'm going to get some 40 series Road rages on some Velocity 6's just for the onroad. Hopefully next week will be a little better. Before i forget, my names Pete, i've heard alot of this place from racing so i thought i'd join.

hey pete, welcome to the boards.....
im assuming you have the old revo? well you should get the 3.3 chassis and you wont pop too many wheelies....
215 is still a litlle rich, you want the temps to be above 200*. what were you running before?

Thanks for the Welcome. I know 215 is a little rich, but it wasn't that hot today so i just want to make sure i don't burn up this new OS. Unfournately i do have the old Revo, The wheelies are mostly just from the tires, which the bowties on it just spins them on the pavement. Last week i was running just under 200, but the temps outside were around 65. Thanks for the help!

Flipping over on the turns is called traction roll, which is caused by to much traction or high center of gravity. If you lower the revo as low as it will go you won't roll as much or any. Side note I have honestly never seen a revo roll over because of high cg. But from your avatar it looks like you have your revo sitting pretty high up. For the wheelie's either raise your gearing(cheapest way cause it can be done by changing your spur gear to a higher tooth count.) or get the extended chassis or setback arms.

Spur gear to a higher tooth count will make it wheelie more. Either smaller spur or bigger clutch bell.

Yes my revo is sitting up seriously high for racing, and the suspension is really stiff because i use to do alot of jumping and bashing, but i am running P2 Rockers. I'm running 36/15t gearing. I really want to regear for speed, but i'm not sure what gearing is the best, as i've never changed much gearing on any of my past trucks. I bought my revo from my cousin because he was too busy racing 1/10scale onroad and 1/8 offroad buggy. All it had for upgrades were the 36/15 gearing, (supposible wide ratio gears but if i'm throwing wheelies like this i don't believe it), and a Pullstart.

What OS engine is in there? It might explain the wheelies....or use less abrupt throttle application. It's not ON-OFF. Smoooooth it out of the corners....
As for rolling it, brake, then corner, then accel. You should be able to keep a Revo flat on the pavement unless you are asking too much of your setup.

Just an OS.18TM with a THS Racing Pipe. I'm trying to get my hands on a set of road rage tires for racing. I can't roll the corners because i get slammed into by lots of other trucks blasting through the corners.

Another option would be to increase the camber to decrease the edge traction while cornering. Your tires will wear more unevenly, but you won't "hook the edges" as much. The downside would also be less cornering traction equaling push on power thru corners. You might try different springs in the truck to help let the rear break loose a little. What are the other guys doing to be able to blast the corners? Copy them.

They are all running pretty much stock revos, most have 3.3 in them, and i have no problem keeping up with them on the straight, but they all zip-tie their suspensions down.

Stiff suspension is good for racing on concrete, because it's flat. Lowering the CG will help alot. I suggest moving your pushrods to the outer holes on the arms and taking out some or all of the preload. It will lower the truck significantly. If your using a tire with pins, you can cut off pins on the outer edge of the tire. It will help against rollovers too because you'll now have less side bite.
If you need to slow down a little to prevent a rollover, by all means, slow down! Don't flip over just because the jackass behind you doesn't know how to operate the brakes! Or slow down and go wide, letting the fast guys with tons of speed pass in the inside. It will end up working out better for the both of you.

Sounds like some serious newb racing going on at the hobbytown. Zipties to hold the suspension down? isn't that what setup is for?
Sounds like a RD Racing "Quick Turn" would work well out there for racing, it takes your front brakes away and makes you slide through the corners instead of having to "roll" them.

File that under "Learned something new today".
But then again, there's prolly a ton we don't know about making a MT fast on pavement.

It will only have rear brakes after you install it.

yeah............what it does is when you apply the breaks iinstead of all 4 wheels locking up the rear 2 wheels lock up and then the front wheels coast.
in the linkage there is a bearing that lets you coast..
