I've been running a RTR buggy for a while. The biggest mystery to me (i came from 1/10 stadium trucks) is how to correctly tune the diffs. I opened them up and there just seems to be a heavy grease in each, not oil as I think there "should" be.
I plan to run/practice at LHR. If anyone has suggestions for diff tuning for that track it would be appreciated. Or just some general rules to apply to any situation.
Also, what performance improvement can I expect from the setup described above.

Definitely clean out all that grease and get yourself some diff fluid.
What buggy and engine are you running.
A good combo is a 5/7/2. That is a good starting point and you can adjust from there.
A friend will help you move, but a REAL friend will help you move a body.

5-5-5 is a good starting point, thicker center will give u a little better acceleration, etc if u can get ur hands on the Xray setup book it has all the info

Thanks for the replies guys.
The buggy is an OFNA Hyper 7 PBS with a RB concepts engine. Ill have to find the motor docs for any more info. Definitely not a top-of-the-line buggy but neither are my drivin' skillz.
Another newbie question......what is the best way to clean out the diffs. Q-tips might work or Simple Green or just a degreaser of some type. How do the pros do it??
And how full do I fill the diffs. Is it a messy process like filling shocks and getting all the air out? Or just fill em to the top close as possible and not worry bout a little air in there?

I clean mine with nitroblast. not alot just a quick blast and let that air dry. As far as filling, X-ray recommends filling halfway on the XB8.
I run 3/4/4 on mine and personally like the way it feels. But still am playing around with different set-ups.

i clean mine out with just a rag. Fill them only enough to cover the spindles, otherwise u risk a chance of the diffs leaking, not life or death but just dont fill it to the top...no need to bleed them either

I dunno where i came up with the shock/diff comparison. I just knew mismatched shocks really messed up my ST's handling and maybe the diff's action likewise would be messed up.
Ill try out those suggestions and see what happens.
oh yeah, and the XRAY manual is killer!!!
