I had that same motor a while back...real strong midrange a little odd on the bottom. Just needs a good clutch set up for the snap down low.
08-12-2006, 07:55 PM
Not sure on the gallons left. He said what they were but I don't remember.
ORC, what would you reccomend for a clutch setup? 2 1.0 springs and 1 1.1 or 2 1.1's and 1 1.0 or 3 1.1's? Tekno EB48.4 HobbyWing XR8 Sanwa M12

Why would you run different rate springs at the same time?
I have never heard of such a thing................

IDK Mike Czech was talking about Ryan Mainfield running different spring rates in this thread;
http://www.chitownrc.com/showthread.php?t=4350 or would you only do that if you had different weight shoes so you need different springs to make up for the difference? I'm confused. Tekno EB48.4 HobbyWing XR8 Sanwa M12

For you I'd say keep it simple until you know that engine. Start out with a nice standrd set up for a baseline. Alum shoes w/ all 1.0 springs (Mugen stuff always works well) until you get the whole thing dialed you can't really try something totally new w/o something to compare it to.
08-12-2006, 08:45 PM
Alright then.
Now correct me if I'm wrong; Running springs such as 1.0 and 1.1 would give me more bottom end snap compared to .9 springs which would make the low a bit smoother? Tekno EB48.4 HobbyWing XR8 Sanwa M12

the higher the number on the springs,1.1, the higher the engine will rev before the clutch engages, the lower the spring,.9, the earlier it will engage. so yes higher number means more bottom snap.

mabey you will get lucky and that will be the magic 13t bell that comes with that motor and all problems will be solved.
08-12-2006, 09:16 PM
Nope the motor doesn't come with the clutch setup lol.

I've heard of some people running 2 different clutch springs. Mostly Higher end drivers. Supposedly, the lighter springs actually engage the clutch, while the heavier spring makes the one shoe release a little earlier, which SUPPOSEDLY deglazes the Clutchbell. Don't know if it actually works though.
