Hey Guys..Got a few questions if you don't mind
Found your site while researching for track pics etc on the finals..enjoy all your banter..thanks for the pic and the little video clip. Any Info On the monster Truck Main ??.... i see the pics someone did of the Mains sheets but they didnt do the Monster Class. anyone have lineup or full results on Monsters ? Oh, Congrats to ALL You that went ..Cool You got a chance to Participate in such a Experiment. I kicking myself for not going still. Loved that The Midwest really stepped up and almost everyone in each class signed up ! WTG ! Hope You all had a good time when all said and done and time to refelect on the show. I heard Nothing about CROWDS ? did many show up and Pay and stick around much to watch ? cold I bet for spectators? what did it Look Like from the stands (as spectator) ? Small and slow ? i have alot more questions but hate to hijack your thread.. OH, I am from the Wicked WEST ! muhahaha We have alot of same issues as You would where I live in the Pacific Northwest.. Short Outdoor race seasons etc..snow and cold about same for us. Saw One comment about You guys race INDOORS Mostly ? Really ? I mean In summer you have outdoor tracks dont ya ? WE dont have a Indoor Nitro Place here..closest one is Peel-It over near seattle..300 miles away... Thanks for any Info On Monsters and crowds

Yep we do, a few of them actually. I've only been to LH but alot of guys can travel farther than I can to race. Welcome to the forum! Don't worry about asking too many q's, that's what this thread is for! Tekno EB48.4 HobbyWing XR8 Sanwa M12

Gotta thank Brian, Tex, Ryan, and Dimo for pitting me all weekend, good thing you guys came to give us all a hand, helped out bigtime. I had a great time this week and it was totally worth the trip. I really wanted to go to the Banquet but didnt have enough Meds to cover me for Sunday so had to go home instead. I gotta say i had one hell of a time at the bar we all went too weds night, that was some fun in there!

crowds = maybe 100 at best, still more than I've ever seen. Was it cold for them, I'd say so! it was freezing in there.
The cars did not seem too small from spectator view at all IMO, they were easily seen, you could even tell who was who, no problem. The monster truck main....well I can go off memory but it's better than nothing I guess..haha A-main: 1st, Tim Roberts (Traxxas) 2nd, Steve Slayden (Traxxas of course) 3rd, JJ Turk 4th, Mark Corderio (Sp?) B-main: 1st, not sure 2nd, Dan Gavere (maybe you know him, he's a PNW guy) 3rd, me!!!! I hope this answers some questions....Anything else just ask!

me = gabe Guild ? I had You ranked 16th or 18th In My personal Entry List ! Congrats.. (yeah i ranked the entrys to see where i would fit in ,i am weird lol )
yeah dan Gavere is what i was looking for thanks.. so thats 2nd for dan AFTER the bump ups ? Ouch ! only 100 ?
11-13-2006, 02:08 AM
there were quite a bit of entries during the day coming in and out, most saw the MT mains and the B mains, i think its kind of a shame that the people did not get to see the Truggy A or Buggy A expert because they went off so late. Those are the races that will make people start to take this hobby seriously but oh well
We race indoor nitro at LH all winter, in the summer alot of us go from WI, IN, IL MO IA OH and anywhere in between

It will be interesting to see how the event plays out as to new racers in your area in next year.
http://www.rcccs.com our club site Our Nitros Season starts in march at peel-it near seattle (only Indoor Nitro track currently) 1st of the NW Champ Tour Races. yeah dan runs the NW Champ Tour and Pro Series etc races ..he is from oregon and been doing good In Monster Class. I get Roy and Craig from RD Racing here(they locals) to make my racing Revos a blast/nightmere Oh BTW Roy swears by His 3.3's and Craig Likes His OS .18's, both are damn hard to beat so it doesnt matter much to me I run a .18 though for the Poll dan run's 18's I think still ?

I had a blast there myself. Being 18-20 feet up on the drivers' stand really played with your depth perception at first. Carlton and crew did a great job getting everything together, and even though the spectator turn out wasn't what may have been expected, I think this was definitely a preview of better things to come to the Midwest.
Props go out to all the Chi-town / LH guys that made it out there and gave 'em hell. My own results weren't what I hoped for in Int. AT...tire and clutch problems in the first two quals. Fixed the clutch and threw on some Bow Ties and began making a better showing. After a short battle back and forth with Kassal in the D-main, Kassal broke and I took 1st. Started 13th in the C-main, and hung back for a few laps while the commotion and pile ups happened, and worked my way through them. I started playing things a little conservative, and not taking any chances like trying to clear the triple (which had paid off in the D). Within the first 4 or 5 minutes, I had worked my way up to 3rd, and was looking at a bump to the B, when I got a little out of shape going through the triple doubles, and landed on a tube. I must have hit it just right that it killed my motor. That put me a lap or lap and a half down, and ended my weekend.

Nice pics! I see my ride in there .
11-13-2006, 12:24 PM
Yeah, I tried to get some of the locals in there too, so that we didn't have to wait for the guy from http://www.racinghavoc.com to get his pics posted. Looking through those, there should be one of Tex in there too...I may have to upload it again. Either the telephoto lens I have isn't fast enough to help process the image clearly, or I just wasn't finding the right pace to track a car across the track. Either way, I'm still a damn amateur RC photographer...LOL ...and just about everyone got the same amount of blur factor thrown in there. It's definitely a lot easier to take the pics outdoors.

Man, there's not a spectator in the stands. Was this event completely unattended by ticket buyers? Was it just the racers and support crews?
How were the trade show exhibits?
11-13-2006, 12:36 PM
There where not mant spectators, maybe 100 all week. But I heard they presold 3000 tickets... The hobby expo was pretty non existant also..
The 24" monster pizza was good, or was it that we where all just starving....

Maybe if the media had been told there was going to be "Monster Truck Racing" it might have gotten some more attention in Rockford.
Model car racing doesn't excite the general public like indoor MX Freestyle or car crushing trucks. Sad that it wasn't a bigger draw, because it might not get done the same way in the future?
11-13-2006, 12:57 PM
Probally a bigger turn-out on saturday with the top dogs racing on that day.
Nice pics Jack. The "hurr" was massive. But Dent Tek and myself had no problems slamming one down, aint that right Rocco =P Sara Lee call yet ? =)
11-13-2006, 01:01 PM
True. They did advertise locally on the radio, and had a TV commercial. Maybe some of the event flyers in local business windows and stuff like that could have helped, who knows. I did hear that there were a ton of presold tickets, and at one point, there was talk that Carlton would have to get close to 5,000 spectators to break even. Carlton hung his azz out on the line to put this event on, and in some eyes it was a bomb, and in others it was a great success. But again, this is kind of trial by fire like I was talking to Bernie about. Similar to the opening of the new LH facility. It wasn't perfect on opening day, things still had to be figured out to get things running even smoother than what it was. Same goes for the Finals...The only way it will get better, and ensure coming back to the Midwest to a venue like this is to go back and revaluate what seemed to work and what didn't.
