As for feeding
You only feed what they can eat up quickly. If there is leftover then it is too much. You will have to play around with the amount but you are better off being light that too much. YOu can step it up that way if need be.

It is fresh unless you add the salt.
Since I am basing this on fresh I suggest if possible to do a 75% water change. If you can and available move the live stock to another tank so you can clean up this one. I also suggest to find a way to back up things in an emergency. You can use a 5 gal bucket for the time being and an air pump. Then clean up you set up with Vinegar. It will cut through algea and rinses much easier with out reside like bleech will leave behind. Reset it all up again and next time keep water %50 worth available at all times if possible. I used milk containers.

No problem...
Also if you use the filters---have two ready to go. When you are down to one filter that is the time to stock up. Do not get in the habit in putting it off until the last minute like you are in now. You have to be prepared and ready for things like this.

Biodragen Wrote:It is fresh unless you add the salt. Alright, then it's fresh. I can do the 75% water change. I also can put my fish in my sis' tank for the night... I haven't put the stuff that was bleached BACK in the tank yet, should I rinse it with some vinegar and then some water? And then should I still clean all the little pebbles on the bottom of the tank even though they haven't been touched by bleach? Thanks for the help Tekno EB48.4 HobbyWing XR8 Sanwa M12

Okay good you are off to a good start now for recovery.
Since you have another tank---reset this one up with all new water then. Rinse of everything as much as you can that you have bleached. Do the dipping method from one to the next. meaning one bucket then drip off the water then dip into the 2nd bucket and repeat as many times you can. Then clean it all up with mild solution of vinegar and so the same thing all over again. And yes clean all the rock, filters---all of it.

Once you are back up and running
Pay close attention to your feeding habits and amounts. You will increase the ammonia with wasted food and create algea growth.

So colorful to Hey guys. When taking pics there is a couple thingsyou can do to help with clarity. 1. Turn off all pumps. 2. Step back a little and use the macro on the camera. 3. There is the flower symbol---make sure you are in that mode. 4. Keep lights on tank 5. Turn off flash 6. Adjust camera for lighting---shutter speed and stuff. 7. Use a tripod too if possible or some resting spot. This will help _______________________ This just added Oh and clean the glass inside and out an hour prior

That is some cool looking shit.
Bio, when you said the vinegar and water dip, should I have 2 seperate bowls of each and just keep going back and forth till I can't stand it anymore? Also, what is the best way to clean rocks? I was thinking of just pitching them and getting some new ones since they're like $5 a bag. Tekno EB48.4 HobbyWing XR8 Sanwa M12

You mix the Vin and Water like you do the bleach but you can make it stronger. You can do this with warm water.
This mix will break down the algea better than bleach and the Vin is biodregradale and not harmful in small minut amounts or trace amounts. It will also break down the calcium and lime deposits if let sit for a while. Scrub it and what have you---the rinse it off and then go to the next and repeat the scrub in the cleaner mix. The rinse the hell out of it...then you should be fine. One thing I always did is get a new sponge for cleanign dishes and dedicate it for the tank stuff. The rocks you use a strainer or Collet. You can even use an old pair of mom's panty hose and do a little at a time if you don't have a strainer or Collet. You can make up a lot of boiling water and pour it over the rocks. Keep stirring up the rocks. This is the lengthy part of all of what you have to do. Oh and this is for any tank fresh or marine...if the outside of the glass gets dirty. Just use a paper towel with water. Then another to wipe it off. This way you don't pollute the tank with any risk over overspray.

HEY TTTM
Do you use use Calcium Hydroxide(pickling lime) in your top off? This helps keep your alkalinity and Ph in balance. Also I will look it up but there is a home recipe using washing soda and baking soda to help with PH and alk. This is only a boost and a temp fix. The wasing soda will bring it down if it is high and thre combo will bring up the Alk. Good piece of coral to get is Xenia(SP Red Sea). This stuff pulses and I used it as an idicator on how the tank is doing. Once I learned the characteristics of the coral s in the tank with parameters I never uses test kits---I would know just by looking at the tank. Do not get a lot of it--just a few stalks---it will grow like weeds and you will give it away or flush it. It will stink up the hands if you smush it---use lots of lemon juice to rid the smell from your hands. It is nasty. When you get some, LMK and I will tell you how to get it to mount on a small rock. Oh and it will move to another location on it's own. Also I hope you are using a skimmer. Also I hope you are not using a UV sterilizer. You only need them if it is a FOWLR(Fish Only With Live Rock). Stay tuned for more Edyamacation when I think of it or something comes up
