They didn't a while back but it has become very common for them to get over a million miles and keep pulling strong. They really are amazing motors.

I'll pass this off to my guys and see if anyone is interested... any idea what the tractor weighs?
typically, I've seen trucks run about 1 million miles and then they either get sold off or have glider kits put under them... the engines are still good, but the wear and tear on the chassis/driveline needs serious attentino at that point.. but as I said, this is typically, depends on the truck owner..

yeah that looks like its in nice shape. Not a fan of macks but they are tough trucks.I have a truck at work that has roughly 1,500,000 miles on the odometer! Its a 95 pete with a 3406B or C. Its on its third overhaul. Everytime we have a new driver start in they come into the shop and ask me if the odometer is correct.Yes the reason they get such high mileage is because of the piston and sleeve set up. But the reason for the piston and sleeve is so that you can remove all the internals without removing the block from the chassis. The other reason for long life is because of the lower RPM. There is alot of mass being rotated in the block. Most diesel engines in truck only hit about 2k to 2500 RPM.Il try to get a pic of the odometer next time its in the shop.
If at first you dont succeed, suck another seed!
