Buying Trends in here and General
#26
I raced the TTR for 8 months. Its not a bad buggy and it was tuff as nails, but it just couldnt hang with everything else out there. I tried hard to get it to work but some of the parts that are availabe now werent when i had it. Either way i was done with it and went the Kyosho route, I bought Chris Kings Buggy and i was hooked.
The Mugen X5 model has been around for awhile and its getting dated, but so is the Kyosho design. These 2 companies like to improve the current design and make it better and better with minor changes or options, where most will dive right in with an all new design. It used to be a 2 horse race with these 2 companies but now there is tons of other choices to chose from. Not all are proven like the Kyosho or Mugen tho, so guys tend to buy those 2 products first.
I think it really helps to have someone recommend a buggy to you. It gives you a chance to test drive it, you have resources for set-up info, testers of different products or tuning, parts, etc. I may be on the Kyosho Team, but i wouldnt recommend it to anyone if i didnt believe in it and i dont mind helping out anyone with whatever car make they have.

I agree withyou the above Joe. But sometimes it takes going threw a few different vehicles to figure out what works for you.

I started with an sp1 when it came out, never really liked it. So then everyone said the sp2 was better, so I bought that. It wa sslightly better but just was not forgiving enough to sauit my driving style. So then I figured one last chance at scale so I got the Jammin.

I am very happy with the Jammin's durability and handling capabilities. It has made me a better driver (still horrible..lol) I figured I would say it before someone else does. BUt I believe that certain characteristics of a certain vehicle may match better with a drivers abilities than others.

...and then John got the jammin and then Rocco got the jammin. Because it just so happened to work for all three of you at the same time? Yeah i know, Dirt dogg blood brothers for life. Wink

Damm Joe that was harsh.... LOL

Well we are all at the same level of crappiness.

I cannot speak for them only myself.... I could not go around a track comfortably with the k car. By no means am I bashing the car, its a great one, but I htink you need to be somewhat of a smooth driver for it , which I am not.

[QUOTE=Biodragen]Okay guys I have noticed that there are many of you who jump on the new stuff on the block.
In turn others jump in on the trend.
Then I see a short time later that the stuff is up for sale.
Then next thing things get flooded for sale like it was when it was new on the block.
This applies to Engines, Trucks and cars.
I can understand keeping up with some of this but to me it is pissing away lots of money unless you have deep pockets.

QUOTE]
I dont have the deep pockets and thats one of the reasons im going to the best built truck out there. Having something thats built like a tank is main priority for me now. Ive seen people run mugen buggies with the same cva's for 2 years without problems and plastic seems to hold up very well. From the wing on my revo to the uprights on the mayhems, poeple use mugen when the need something better.
I had my ST from day 1 when they were first released and really loved it but the times changed, ive changed(driving), and it's time for me to change vehicles. The class really blew up over the last year with all the new trucks and competition. Altho i feel i got it hooking up pretty good, the attention and money it needed to get it there was crazy. I could of just bought a crt or lsp with all the fixing then. I still feel the MST still is not the most dependable after all ive done. I just want to race and have fun doing so which is hard when your always having to fix or tweek something. Live and learn.
For newcomers to the class, these are great times to get in without selling the house to get in. For me, after two and a half years racing, I finally know what I want and where to get it. Idea

Damn. Too funny.

I think by now Rocco has improved more than his crew, so your not all on the same level anymore. Smile

Rocco, it works for you because you havent tried anything else. I see a mugen buggy in your future to go along with the truggy. .......now i see a Mugen buggy and truggy in the whole DD Blood Brothers crew too. Wink
