Has anybody on this board actually owned and broken a Duratrax product? I've broken everything I ever drove at some point, including my Savage - which is thought to be tough, and my Stampede - which IS tough.
My point is that Duratrax is an important manufacturer for beginner level enthusiests, and I don't think its fair to just rip em apart for no reason. I would never buy one of their trucks now because I have moved on from that nitch, but the Firehammer is a good big buggy and is probably a better vehicle than the Traxxas monster buggy.
I have a 2 Duratrax Intellapeak chargers, and a Piranah charger. Both work great. One had a problem when the inverter plug broke and they sent one out to me no questions asked. I am happy with them.

Duratrax is ok for the home/park basher. Although, there is a reason none are at the races.
We are not talking racing here but the guys saying "duracrap" and duratrash" are racers for the most part (well except Ponch, he does race sometimes though)
I think they are basically saying if it's not track worthy, it's not worthy at all

Agreed, Duratrax vehicles are not race worthy IMO as well. But the Firehammer buggy is not a racer, is not a Duratrax but an FG Monster, and is a good 1/5 scale basher. And I think their chargers are a great value. Now I'll get off my soap box, thanks everyone.

Man, when I had my duratrax I don't even think it was bash worthy, I had to clue what I was doing but it shouldn't have broken that much... I came up the curb and part of the steering was broke, it wasn't that fast either I didn't back then what it could do, but all of my other vehicles can come up the curb at full throttle, this one couldn't do it at 1/4 and it happened a few times. I had a few wheels that the inside broke out of, again its not like it never happens but it happened twice, once when I was jumping and then again when I was just running up and down the street. I don't know if I was just having really bad luck or what, but it was not worth the money IMO.

Gabe, I'm gettin out to the track more now, bud! lol, with Racin'Ranger1 having his liecense, I'm out at practice at least once a week. Haven't raced in a couple weeks though, on account of engine problems.
If you honestly feel that it is good enough of a deal, get it. If you can though, seriously consider the 5b. It's sweet. FG's are awesome too, a dude had one at the track and that thing actually picked up speed quickly and took MANY nose dives into the back of the triple.

I've seen both the Firehammer and the Baja 5b in action on the same day. The firehammer broke easy on minor jumps. It was slow compared to the 5b, handled poorly and definitely not as cool.
The 5b in comparison was tough as nails. The guy who brought it had no concept of mid air control and would consistantly hit nose or wheel first at an angle that should have broken it considering that its about 18 or 19lbs.
The 5b is on the money. It may be a $900 buggy but its definitely worth the money! And its decently fast for what it is. And you can always make it faster with a tuned pipe, and nitrous kit, or an engine swap.
How bad is "bashing" The guy came with 17rc's, and broke every single one of them! 2 of them were FG's, 1 5b, and a 1/6th scale savage conversion. And the rest were various buggies, savages, Cen genesis....ie crap loads. At the end of the day he bought another 1/8th scale buggy used, and broke it 10 minutes later.
The 5b is definitely worth the money. Don't get the firehammer. Save up, buy a 5b used, or buy new. But the 5b is worth it. The FG's are about $1500 at Al's I think.

Its funny that the cars they sell are not the greatest, yet the tools and things to work on those cars will out perform and outlast that car!
I dont think they have anything that could ever be thought of as a racer. I know I have never seen any of their stuff at the track.

Czech-it-Out Graphics Wrote:u ever think the nose diving thing is cuz maybe its 20 lbs and is only RWD lol The man nose dived everything. I don't think he landed more than 4 or 5 jumps correctly the whole time. Consider how many attempts he made with each car, and the fact that he had 17 cars to work with.......

Ya that thing looked like shiet on the track . Thought it was a tank all dressed up mash: I`ve seen the 5B run and totally different quality and performance . :joy:

Well if you've never seen one move, the 5b's move pretty good. This video is by HPI but it moves quick enough for a RTR.
