boy am I glad I race in the class with the least hacking....seems as if some people have no idea what is and what isn't hacking.....
For instance if your racing into a corner, and you hook your front tire on the rear tire of the guy in front because you think you have the inside line, that is blatent, neglegant, hacking... If your front tire hits his rear tire, HE'S IN FRONT OF YOU, that is not your line, it's his....... This is open wheeled racing, act like it....you don't see F1 cars "rubbing" do you? With open wheeled cars a bump or rub usually turns into a wreck....(for both people) Everyone makes mistakes but come on...... racing clean and close is WAY funner than going for that quick pass when your not sure if you'll make it. Casketman, your comment about being mad at marshals is just down right funny....why would you ever be mad at a marshal because YOU wrecked? They didn't get it fast enough for you? It's your fault they had to go get it anyway, they should be mad at you for having to run around and pick up your slack. Especially if someone gets hacked and both people wreck, any good marshal will get the hackee back on track first before he gets the hacker set straight, even if the hacker is way closer to the marshal. I see hacking everytime I marshal and the hackers do not get marshaled as well by me, plain and simple. being over zealous and neglegant is hacking.....it's not fun for anyone I'll mention it again, try going a full race day without touching ANYONE, the whole day. It's fun and builds your skill a lot more. It allows you to have practice racing really close to people and that is where the fun is. Making that quick pass through the chicane gives you a burst of adrenaline, racing close to someone without touching for minutes at a time produces WAY more adrenaline. you'll notice at practice sessions the "fast" guys will stay together a lot of the time on the track, if one wrecks, the other guy waits for him and they continue with the train.....they do that for a reason....IT'S FUN....adrenaline pumps hard the entire time.

your a hack then (in my book)....of course remember, certain circumstances call for special measures.
If your coming from behind and can clearly see that I'm not in the racing line then by all means I would let you by (if your in the line). If I'm in the line (cut hard and tight into the turn) and you wanna come straight up into the turn and hit me from the inside, that hacking in my book. Any experienced racer can tell when himself and other people around him are in the best line or not... All I'm saying is don't take me out of that line, I'll give it to you if your faster.

In real racing (like F1) a driver who goes inside where there isn't room runs the risk of wrecking or incurring a penalty. There is no form of racing I can think of where forcing inside another racer is considered "owning the line" especially when you come from behind and stuff it in there.
I'm sorry, but if the guy you are coming up on is doing his best at the moment to race on the line at a given speed, stuffing it in there in a corner is prolly not the smartest racing decison in any circumstance. You are wiser to follow him through the turn and trust that he will give way in a better, safer manner than being shoved wide by your inside manuever. But if you think bold inside moves are OK, don't be pissed when someone slams the door on you for doing it too many times.
12-19-2006, 10:31 PM
they slam the door on u u gotta lock em up, its the risk u take, i really dont see a problem with that ive done it to guys and have had it done to me some guys move cuz they shit their pants cuz they are so surprised or they say screw u and slide on in

Czech-it-Out Graphics Wrote:tex if my left front hits ur right rear going around a right hand turn its my lineTHANK YOU MIKE! If your right tire hits my left front that is MY line. Just because your in front doesnt mean a damn thing! I had that inside line going in and I intend to pull off the move. You left that door open for me so I will take it. If you wanted that line, you would have your wheels there before me. If you come down and hit me,that to me is your chopping me and trying to block. And that is dirty racing to me. Just because your infront. That doesnt mean you can decide where, when, and how I pass you. You left me that hole and I plan to use it to move myself up. If we touch, then we touch. That my friend is true hard racing. Yes,open wheel cars do bump. More Cart/Indy then F1. But they do bump and no,they dont always crash. But this IS NOT ONROAD RACING. So when you see open wheel racing offroad like the ROAR buggies. They bump and nothing happens most of the time. The Outlaws bump, and nothing happens most of the time if the bump was clean(no tire to tire contact). So please, from what I understand so far. This is holding to be true although no one has yet to comment on it. Quote:As I said before, if someone takes the inside dive move and makes it. 'Oh wow, what a great pass!!!!' If they screw up and crash either it be their fault or the other guys. It turns to ' What a hack move there, that was just being to aggressive!!'Please, correct me if I am wrong. But that seems to be the mindset of some here. Which to me leaves a very fine line if any at all between being clean and a hack. And thank you mike. Although you have not said it. You and me are on the same line here with this stuff. I am sorry, but I get the feeling that my idea or racing is way different then most other ideas of racing here. But as mike says, even the pro races get ugly AND THOSE GUYS ARE PAID TO RACE!

it all needs to come into context though, alot of drivers dont know their abilities they try to pull off passes they will never be able to stick, its the right idea but its the wrong way to practice. I do it as much as everyone else, thats why there are marshalls because usually if ur taking the inside line like u should and are trying to pass u stuff it into a tube and screw urself. I love how guys sit there and say wait ur turn wait ur turn etc, u can do that it works; but u cant do that for a 15 minute main. You need to make some moves, one crash and ur phucked on a 22 second layout in a 45 minute main where more problems arise u can settle in more and run ur race. I think if the mains were extended at LH we would see cleaner racing atleast in the A's the strategy changes then and its no longer race to the finish. Its dont break dont crash 6 times and get lapped after 5 minutes.

Tex Wrote:Casketman, your comment about being mad at marshals is just down right funny....why would you ever be mad at a marshal because YOU wrecked? As for this little comment. I get upset with them for not paying attention. I get upset with them for being to scared to touch a truck. I get upset with them when they are in to much of a hurry and put me down wrong. It doesnt matter why I needed their help. Most of the time it is my own fault and not from a crash. But those are the reasons Tex. Pick up my slack?! I am sorry, but I dont spend money on this truck, motor and pipe to just 'cruse' around the track. It is set up to race and that is what I plan to do. But everyone makes mistakes and when they do,they need a hand to get back out on the track no matter who is at fault. I hear it at every big race and almost every time I am at the track. MARSHALL THE TRUCK AS TO HOW YOU WOULD LIKE YOUR TRUCK TO BE MARSHALLED! So it shouldnt matter if I do it alone or not. I would rush over to get your truck back up and going. I would expect the same. But I am also that nice of a guy, even if someone did act like an ass and marshall me wrong or whatever. I would still rush to get them going again.

Casketman Wrote:if your right rear tire hits my left front that is MY line. depends on the exact line both racers are on....anyone can come charge into a corner and push like a bulldozer through it, the guy sweeping from outside to inside on the turn will exit way faster and be way tighter in the turn...so if I'm sweeping in tight and you come straight up into the corner, plowing, that's hacking even though you could technically be inside of me for the moment... I've watched Mike race many times and I know what he's describing when he says (that's my inside line) and I think your misunderstanding even though you think he's downright agreeing with you. I could care less if he did agree 100% with you, I'm just saying I think your misunderstanding where he's coming from.

If you took the start of the corner wide and then cut in to take a tighter line on the backside of the corner and I 'plow' into you, then that is more my fault which I try not to do. A racer can tell when a car is doing that. And I have used the brakes manytimes to keep myself from doing that.
But there have been times when I have been to far in to stop it from happening. Then it turns to that guy who took it wide in the first place. If I have already commited and I am well into the corner or inside him when he starts to cut in. Then he needs to make that split second thought and decide to stay wide, stay on that line he was going to take and hit me. Or to just stop and let me go. But he left the door open. A split second here or there can change how that whole thing ends up. Am I correct with that?

Seems like the casketman is taking this more serious than he said he does, toy cars my azz!!!
Mike L, you should have taped me in the Buggy amain!! I was trying to get it sideways every damn corner!, I still pulled over for the fast guys after scarying the crap out of them. I was like an inch apart from Big AL on the front straight right next to him and we didnt touch then i was on his azz down the 180 over the small triples, he had to have craped hisself and mofo'd me. LOL There is nothing wrong with passing someone if its clean, there is also minor hacking and excessive hacking. Excessive was Sunday at the start of the UMT amain for 3 laps it was like that at almost every corner. I got nailed in the air over the table top, rearended in the air, i came down on another car and i got told to "take it easy" from John. I took it easy, i pulled off. When there is 5 cars going for the same damn line it doesnt work. Poor Chad looked like a sweat hog when he got done marshalling, running around with the jimmy-leg. LOL

u have to look at the track to be able to tell for sure i understand where tex is coming from, look at it this way u go inside out the guy ur trying to pass will go outside in. At the state race i saw corey make some passes on chad due and if he wouldnt have made it everyone woulda called it a hack but it was an incredible pass. Shit happens i get pissed im competetive but at the end of the day whats the point of arguing or makin enemies

There are very few reasons to be mad at marshals and only one of your is a valid reason, not paying attention.
I marshal people the way I would like to be marshaled every go around... BUT if I see a crash and someone blatently hacked then the inocent guy gets set straight first....that is the right thing to do. I never said anything about (someone marshalled me wrong so I'm going to marshal then chitty) I said if they are hackers. I don't get mad at marshals, nor do I blame them for MY mishaps. Have you or anyone else EVER heard me say 'well if that marshal would have got me sooner' or 'damn marshals ruined it for me' or anything of that nature??? I don't think so.
