The new Muggy tires are a direct fit on the LST2 hubs, and have the lower profile and bowtie style design. These would be a good tire for racing. There will be a SLIGHT decrease in top speed with the shorter tires, but you will make up for this with a lot more low end torque out of the corners.
A lot of people running LST's on the track would make the mistake of having the suspension jacked up. This makes taking corners more difficult. Lower the suspension till the arms are level, and install the sway bars if you do not already have them.

So are you talking about 1/8th scale buggy wheels with adapters? Please forgive my ignorance as I'm somewhat new. I'm also currently running yellow springs all the way around which keeps my a-arms perfectly level as it weighs 15 lbs.
I did upgrade both sterring servos to the Airtronics 94358's so I have more than enough muscle to turn just about any tire.

The Yellow springs are a bit too stiff for racing. You will get too much weight transfer in the corners. Stick to the stock or Black springs for racing.
The Muggy tires will work, but the Panther tires that Ponch listed may grab a bit better on the Clay. The main difference, is the Muggy tires will wear a little better overall. With the Panther tires, I wouldn't recommend running them anywhere BUT the track. The softer compound will wear down much quicker.
