Yeah it was a raze...a pull start. I thought it might be junk for the price. $275. Everything they had was rtr, no kits. I used to get my stuff there cuz a guy I used to race with at Radio Active worked there. I always got a good deal on batteries and motors. He's not there anymore tho Sad

So hows tha angry old guy at LaGrange? I bought my first rc from him and have shopped ther off and on for 30 years. He finally remembered me last time and wasn't so grumpy.

I raced at radioactive back in the day , good times there

Heres the deal , gas truck seemd to be the cheapest but the turnout is hit and miss at leisure , goo thing is if you get an assocaited RC10gt you can use alot of parts and all your tires and wheels from the T2 as long as you had the 3/16 axles instead fo the 1/4" axles in the rear .

Monster truck seems to be the class the newer racers are in, good way to start int he hobby , but dont fall for the spend thousands of dollars to makeit really really fast , dirve clean and dont crash and i predict mosnter truck racers will envy you .

Truggy is a fun class , some good drivers and some who have moved up to it from monster truck who are still learning the ropes . Downfall is being highly competitive can get costly and these require more periodic maintaince ,tires are expensive but last a long time .

1/8 buggy is the elite class , most of the hardcare racers run this , alot of guys form back in the radioactive days , most of the cars you buy now are competitive out of the box and it all comes down to drving , lately the competition is fierce and one bobble in a qualifier can knock you down to a lower main . Very fun class and is the best bang for the buck IMHO . A used quality buggy can be found realitively cheap too . Plus a good sport engine for less then 2 bills will be more than adequate indoors and even outdoors . For less than a grand you can have a top of the line car , if you find a used one ,the right tires , good engine and the proper radio gear .

Well the craigslist guy didn't follow through so no Revo for me. Sad I may keep the T2 and convert it to lipo/brushless in the summer.

Anyway I am still coming out tomorrow morning to check out some other rigs. Who knows I may leave with a buggy of my own if I find the right deal. See you guys tomorrow.

OK I just won a Thunder Tiger buggy on ebay for 137.50. Not too bad of a deal. I know everybody has been encouraging me to use a Spektrum at LHR, but is it absolutely necessary? Can I get by for a while using my old KO Propo FM transmitter without causing problems? Reason I ask is I still need to purchase a starter box and glow igniter and possibly a new motor. The buggy comes with one, but sight unseeen I have no way of knowing its condition until I get it.

IMO... I think your currents system will be more than enough.... One things for sure. You wont have to worry about anyone being on your freq.!

also czech -it-out graphics on this board races for ttr and im sure he can hook you up with plenty of set-up info! He makes those ttr's fly.

Obviously will need new wheels and tires. Also need the starter box, but according to the guy...other than that I'll be ready to go. I may not have everything needed to get going for this coming Sunday if even I get the car this week, but I am hoping to be racing by next Sunday.

Now I have to light a fire under my old racing buddies A$$es to get their own cars.

Not true! Always check the board for the clip of the frequency you're using. It's also smart to have a crystal set for one other channel.

Thanks for you meanless two cents.... That goes without saying (checkin for freq. conflicts), i dont think he will need to change crystals very often all due too all the spekturm units used...

If it's such a "DUH" thing then why did you tell the guy that if he used his KO Propo that no one would be on his frequency? That's not true and a very dangerous assumption regardless of the number of Spektrum units in use.

Reread your own post. My God, no wonder you rarely understand and misquote my posts. You can't even write a clearly understandable post yourself.

I am staying out of this one.

I always have and always will have extra crystals if I continue to use that remote. So that isn't a problem.

Yes, you should have. But, more importantly, you should have proof read your post so that anyone new to the hobby who has yet to race at LH will be properly informed.

That buggy is about 10+ years old. I'm not sure if Mike Czech knows how to set those up.
The KO radio will be fine. The auction also says it comes with a radio which would also work.

Another thing i was thinking, what if you break, where do you get parts? also being a bit old I wonder if things like o-rings are old and don't hold fluid? (shocks, diffs, gas tank)

I figured as much. It doesn't mean its garbage, but parts might be hard to come by. God I hope not. I just wanted to get something inexpensive to start out. I can always upgrade to another chassis later on.
