We came, we saw, we broke partsmash: alute:
Friday started out as a day of testing and tuning. The track for Monster Jam was rough as hell, imagine LH's indoor clay track but VERY rough with ruts from the bull dozers that prep the track. Those little ruts mean nothing to the Monster trucks, but to our little RC's they could send them anywhere. As the races progress the track got smoother as the monster truck tires are nearly bald so they smoothed it out for us.
BTW, hearing a Monster Truck fire up not 20ft away at ground level is simply AWESOME! Its DIGGER TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Fridays intermission kinda sucked, they were running late so our time on the floor was cut short so they could get back on schedule.
Saturday was amazing. Imagine bashing in a stadium with 10ft tall motocross and monster truck jumps with 12,000 people watching you push your RC's to the limits. They brought out the Motocross ramp which was about 12 to 14ft long, and 8ft high, then going at it full bore with your RC, how high does it jump? VERY high, I hit it with the Jammin buggy full bore on saturday and nailed a full backflip, but ended up being short on the landing by bout 2ft so instead of landing on the table top landing ramp, I landed on the short side.
Sunday came and I ended up having starter box issues with the buggy, I ended up missing the ramp because of a huge clump of dirt sending me wayward and right into a fender on the ramp. OUCH. Snapped the front arms holders, destroyd the front plastic bulkhead, snapped several tie rods, and stripped a purple 7075 pro knuckle.
Tried to get out there again with the buggy as the backup car but I wasn't able to get it started in time.
The good news? They loved us, and we are being invited back again next year, with the discussion for possibly even more shows, some maybe even local at the Rosemont.
Even though we were there to entertain the crowd I had so much fun that I didn't even notice the 12,000 people in the seats.
Monster Jam ROCKS!!!!
There are more pics available but they haven't been posted by the other drivers yet, so more will come as i get them. We were also not allowed to record video because of exclusive rights to video during the show by the sponsors.
