Rx battery set-ups for racing
#1
Well, after I have been looking into what I need to upgrade as far as steering servos, I am looking at the:
Ace1015 Super torque(should do well in CrT)
Transit time: 0.108 sec/deg @ 6V
Torque: 14.5 kg/cm (201.4 oz/in) @ 6V

I am as well going to run Ballistic 2700mah packs, do I really need to run a voltage-regulator? What If i just have two rx packs fully peaked, I will carry Novak Ionic charger w/me as well, Is this voltage-regulator a must have for these power hog servos or can I just be stocked up on a couple rx packs to get me through a day of racing, what do you guys suggest?

I may be missing something here, but a 2700 Mah pack doesn't put out more voltage than a lower Mah pack. The only difference, is the higher Mah batteries last longer. One 2700Mah pack should last a full day of racing EASILY, but having a backup, just in case, wouldn't hurt.

Well, I'm aware under normal conditions the pack would survive, but the powerful servos such as the Ace1015 draw a butload of current, thats why I'm asking, to find out if a regulator is necessary for a servo like that Wink

No way do you need 2 reciever packs. I ran a 1200 mah pack with 2 high performance servos and I would have to charge it once during a race day. I am now running a 2700 mah pack with 2 decent servos and can easily go a full race day on a single charge.

No problemo. The only reason some people don't run that large of a capacity pack (running 1600 or so instead) is because the actual pack is larger and many reciever boxes cannot accomodate it. (Maybe weight too but I doubt it.)

yeah, my receiver box for my CrT will accomodate a fairly large pack, at A-main it says I have to lay the Ballistic pack on its side in box before it will fit, I may have to go with the new updated reciever box for the CrT, theres more room for a larger pack, its only like $13.00 Wink

u only need a regulator with lipos. Get a back up pack just in case it wont hurt. The only servos that really draw a ton of current are those gay airtronics ones

HaHa, real funny. I have two of those "gay" Airtronics ones in my STR and I can go all day on a charge with my home made 2200mah Energizer pack Rolleyes

What is it with you and the whole gay thing anyway? lol
