New Track in Chicago StrictlyRC
#1
I wasn't sure where to put this cause there's an off road and an on road forum but not a forum for a place that does both or a "smaller than 1/10th scale" forum. So it's here. If the moderators want to move it please do.

It's actually two blocks out of the City of Chicago city limits in Norridge.

Strictly RC
7719 W Lawrence Ave
Norridge, IL 60706
(708) 456-9100

Here's some photos of the track and their shop:

They are currently just having only practice right now. They run 1/14th, 1/18th, and 1/28th scale on Ozite.

Me and the boys have run all of these so far: Recoils, Bud's Supercars, Xray M18's, Carisma's, HPI micro RS4's and Mini-z's, Vendetta's, Mini-T's, and RC18's.

I can make it in 8 minutes if it's not rush hour.

I went a few times last week just to run for 45 minutes. Not to mention 1/18th scale gear, and all the tools all fit into one small bag.

Strictly is about ten percent larger than HPI's.

Maybe it's the wide angle perspective of the photos of Strictly?

Current layout is yielding about a 6 second lap.

I stopped in that place when they first opened. Mainly a Heli/ plane place when I was there. Owners/employees seemed very cool. Might have to check that out. Less than 2 minutes from the casa.

Don't necessarily pigeon hole yourself. We all know an Xray will be great. I wouldn't take it and run a big butt mod motor in it on Strictly's track, right off the bat.

Me and the boys are experimenting with all kinds of different cars right now. So far, for on road sedans, we have personally run these:

M18, bone stock
M18, mamba/Lipo
Bud's Supercar
HPI Micro RS4
Mini-z
Recoil
Carisma

For right out of the box stock the Recoil is perfect. Albeit a 1/14th scale, it's really fun.

I really want to try a Robotronic's Scalpel. The hobbyshop has a few coming in today or tomorrow. I think bone stock will be the class to run with it.

If any of you are interested in who/what/why/if's about 1/18th scale vehicles and the like rctech.net has a good forum. Check it out:

http://tinyurl.com/3davql

Also...if any of you get around and see Nick Smrt, I know he goes to Leisure regularly, he's pretty knowledgeable about many things 1/18th scale. Another really knowledgeable person in 1/18th scale is Ron at Duneland Hobbies.

So far there will only be four places to race 1/18th scale around chicagoland:

leisure, His and Her's, Duneland Hobbies, and the new StrictlyRC

I think some discussion will happen between Duneland and Strictly about forming some standards about racing classes. Having vehicle standards will make it better for racers that want to travel around to race so that everyone's cars are compatiable.

I saw pics of that Robotronics Scalpel, looks really decked out straight outta the box. Very cool.

An Xray M18 with a stock motor would be perfect for that track. Hopefully they will mirror Duneland Raceway and run "Super Stock 1/18 TC". Basically using the Venom Fireball Micro motor...$17.

That will make for some fun racing. Plus the M18 is super durable and can take a beating.

I've been to Xtray's web & cannot find a spec sheet for carpet. Can someone give me a basic setup...all stock. Thanks in advance.

I'd check out the m18 thread in the micro/mini forum at the message forums at rctech.net.

I'm sure there's a ton of people with setups.

Ayup. That will be a class. Strictly will be mirroring Duneland Hobbies 1/18th, and 1/16th scale classes. For both off road and on road vehicles.

Strictly just got the new I-Lap race timing system in. Looks like real racing will begin in March with the date TBA. They are currently up and running for practice. Check in at the hobbyshop before heading to the track.
