Though I think its overweight, and overengineered I'll give them this.
Its damned fast.

This the first bit of real video I've ever seen where it actually does reach the spec'd top speed of 253mph.

The funny part. The McLaren F1 did 242mph with 650hp, weighing in at 2500lbs or so. The Veyron needs a little under 1,000hp and comes in at 4,300lbs.
The Saleen S7 TT with 750hp was tested at 257mph by motortrend, but its not official.
The Veyron is currently the fastest production car on the planet available now. There are other cars faster, but none with all the luxury.

Some pics of it.
There are plenty others out there on google if you just do a search for Veyron.
I'm not a fan of its styling. It looks okay, doesn't really make me turn my head. If it wasn't so darned fast I would dismiss it in a heart beat as a funny looking car.

At that speed, I believe, aerodynamics are way more important that weight. The McLaren and the S7 are all out bullet shaped race cars. They aren't gonna need the power that the Bugatti is gonna need.

Oh, I agree on the weight. I've got a excel table at home that lists how much HP I'll need to hit a specific speed for my TransAm. The table calculates to about 300mph even though I doubt my car is going to crack 180 if ever, let alone be able to even attempt 180mph. Course the table only calculates how much power is needed to push said shape through the air, and doesn't calculate rolling resistance, mass, or much else so its only mildly accurate.
But my problem is with how bulbous it is. If it were a better shape, it would be much faster. The veyron started out as a concept car with little real though given to aerodynamics. It was built to look "sleek" but no real work was done in that area. Then when Bugatti later announced that it would build said car, and it would do 250mph they had the fun task of making said concept car actually go that fast which is why the veyron needs all 1,000hp it has and not less like the S7 which has 750 and passes 250mph without any active aerodynamic devices.
So Gordon Murray, and Steve Saleen had a vision in their head of a car that could do these things and proceeded with the thought that Form follows function. Where as the veyron is built the other way around.
For me, the lighter I can make a car the better. Weight is free downforce, but its also every race cars enemy. So the Veyron is fine where it is, but if someone tries to tell me its a race car I'll laugh in their faces. Its fast, but only in a straight line. This is the car that crashed at Laguna Seca with a professional driver on its exhibition day showing off its amazing handling.
Bugatti could have done much better had they consulted the engineers before they finalized the shell of the car.

The Veyron is sick! Fast, Rediculously expensive, and cool.
I'd love the have the $$$ to buy one......although I'd rather have the S7 TT personally.

I think in the silver it is a beautiful car. If I ever have that kind of money it would definitely be considered. Yes, they could have made it more aerodynamic, but they didn't. The interior and the car as a whole is just breathtaking. I would love to just SEE one in person.

Nice car but I would think that if I had the money I would go with a McLaren F1, 9 years old and still worth around $1 million dollars. I think it looks better to! But the Veyron is ?wicked.

As much as the Veyron is fast, I still love the Koenigsegg even more.

check Top Gears review out.
Koenigsegg CCX, or Pagani Zonda F for me. Either one would keep me happy for a long time.

Rapper Wyclef Juan (i think thats how you spell it but who really cares) has one of these cars. The Veyron. I found this info at an automotive website (don't remember which one).
At this speed the tires only last 15 minutes.... not to worry - a full tank of gas is spent in 12 minutes....
It sucks in more air in one minute than a human being breaths in 4 days...
