Yeah, thats the problem. The trannies in those Power wheels are not strong enough to handle a lot of power. You can safely rig up an 18 volt system by wiring in another 6 volt battery in series. Thats good for speeds in the 8-10mph range.
Once you go 24 volt, or intall bigger motors, you will start stripping gears.

Castle used used Mamba maxx motors. I saw it at the show too. I don't really intend to do that to my son's Power Wheels. But I am rigging up the 18 volt system.
