bumper with springs or shocks?
#1
hey everyone

well after putting on a rpm bumper on the e-pede we went to busse. thanks guys for the info. everyone was real nice. my lil guy smacked the curb man that bumper held up but he snapped the chasis. has anyone ever seen a spring loaded bumper or one with shocks? that might help prevent this. I know its a stretch but after thinking about this thought this might save not only the chasis but most other parts

It's a longshot. See if there's a way you can screw on a revo bumper and mount, shouldn't be too hard. They're a (flexable, don't break easy) loop that takes impacts well, it actually functions as a cushion.

well i took the bulk head off the chassis and the screws were really bent so i dont think anything would have saved it. next house will definetly need to be closer to the lhs

Another option is to get a small flexible plastic sheet (some type of ABS resin, trill the holes in it so it matches up with the chassis screws and then mount a foam bumper on it like the on-roads have. That should absorb any impacts

I'm not quite sure off the top of my head how the bumper mounts on the 'pede.

BTW, this is what i was talking about when I said you can go all out on the Stampedes and build a monster of a car.

And at $150 its basically the cost of a RTR Stampede.

So, figure about $300 to $350 to build a all aluminum pede out of a stock XL5 pede (including purchase price of original pede)

You would be better off beefing up the chassis where it broke. Rather then attempting to make a new bumper. The Rpm bumper did it's job, the chassis didn't.

exactly addictedtonitro something that would absorb more of an impact. you are right that rpm bumper did its job. i already had upgraded all the bearing carriers etc. that bumper transferd all the force to the chassis. I wonder if i were to add a thin piece of metal under the chassis from the bumper to end of chassis if that would make it more durable. becuse now it seems the chassis is going to take most of the impact of any hit.

anything you could do now would have to be custom made except the alum chassis. I would honestly try the revo bumpers first. You could cut off the edges so It's just a loop and stick it maybe behind the rpm bumper. I'll look at mine and see if I can get some Ideas for ya

I can't count the number of times I've not had enough speed on a jump and landed nose first into the other jump...no damage. I've got a revo with the bumpers still installed. it actually helps ALOT. worth a try my man.

I have beat the living tar out of my R/Cs but NOTHING will help when a yougster bashes a cement curb! Curbs are about the only thing that has ever broken my Pede or anything else for that matter.
I have since discovered the best protection against this kind of destruction. No playing in the street!

I ran at hobby town in ST. Charles, today. I saw a Monster GT go wide open into a curb. practically ripped the whole front end off
