I'm all for massive HP and cool cars, but I never did get the point of brake-torqueing 10,000 miles off of a set of rear tires, just to make smoke and noise.

I'll never get it then.
If I wanted to impress people with the power of my car it would be to go fast, by standing on the throttle, without the brakes applied.
My 1970 Buick would do impressive smoky tire-friers, but it wasn't because it was a race car. Face it, most cars have enough power to keep spinning the tires once they are broken loose and boiling.
I would have rather seen the TA do a 1/4 mile pass that demonstrates the ability of the car and driver.
But like I said, I'll never get it.

Its not a logical thing, smoke shows I mean. Its emotional and Mich is right. If you don't get it, then you never will. The smoke, burning fuel, the noise. Its emotion. I get goosebumps hearing some of these engines fire up and shred some tires.
Sure, I love 1/4 mile drag racing as much as any other gear head. But a good smoke show is always appreciated.

There was a guy that rolled up and stood on the throttle no brakes and did a burnout there. He almost wrecked the car doing it to as he lost control.
Most modern cars can't do a really good smokey burnout as easily as you think. a 70 buick had rear drums ans skinny tires with a huge torque engine so smoke shows would a piece of cake. The sticky tires of todays cars and strong disk brakes can actually stop many cars form doing them. Heck there was a vette there with massive brake upgrades. He could barley get the tires to spin because the brakes were soo good on the car.. lol. Line Lock would be the best mod for easy burnouts.
Here is the compilation video form the open house!

I was there on and off during the day. It was a good time! There was soo much rubber laid down I went back on sunday to get some test and tune launching on the slicks and getting data logs.. lol.
that LS1 powered 3rd gen TA is such a nice car. Super clean install on it. That guy ports Throttle boddies too. I almost bought one of his TB's but I ended up just porting my own and then tuning afterwards.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=TAySD6pqXRs I'm not even going to watch the video. I bet its chris chow's TT GN, which is actually powered by a TT SBC I believe. Or a big block, one of the two. But it lacks the very engine that makes a GN and a Regal T-type what they are.

But I was just looking at the burnout on the dyno, not being critical! But I guess you just don't like me so anything you can post against me is good for you.

But I guess you just don't like me so anything you can post against me is good for you. I wasn't doing it to insult you. There are a fair bit of people who don't know that its not actually a 3.8L GN plant under the hood. Most people don't even think about it because they see a GN and a GN is synonomous with Turbo 3.8
As for me deciding not to watch it, its not because you posted it, its because i've seen the dyno video so many times that i know it by heart. I'm actually getting tired of watching it. Anytime someone says "TT GN on dyno" i know exactly who's car is in the video.
But if you want to think I'm insulting you then go ahead.

I have a friend who has a true blue jet black gnx 18k on the clock and wow. thing puts out so much power it amazed me. he also has a 40th anniversary vette(the purple one) and the gnx waxes it. I've always liked the gn.t,gnx catagory and they never will get old. as long as they are run by a 3.8 turbo!
