That is actually a decent idea but it would make for more work for the mods. They may support this more than patrolling and cleaning/closing threads after they are made.....

I think a membership, only to be approved by Tune or one of the mods, like said before $5-10 bucks per year? Not a bad deal, and no charge for the sale ads but to only be approved by Tune or a mod? Just a thought, Also let anyone sign up, and paying members get a star by their username? Or something to show they are paying members and non-paying members can't sell in the sale ads? My .02 Either way i'm in whatever way ya go with it Tune!

im on another forum where a yearly premium membership is 50 bucks so i think by making it 20 dollars for a yearly premium membership would be a good deal. and then you set up another user group for premium members and make them a special section

90 bucks a month. I say put in more ads. I will click on them every time I log on. I would also be willing to pay to be a member. but I suggest you make it voluntary and give paid members a premium status or a paid member only thread or some kind of perk like that. That way you can still draw in new members easily and still make some money with dedicated forum members.

How about $150 while we're at it!!!
Since that's the road we seem to be going!
I did the math, if we have 200 active members, and annually, they each made a contribution of $5.50, that would add up to $1100. Tune said the site cost around $90/month to run this, so that yearly is $1080. Now he makes $20 for maintaining a great site. No need for $20 per person, that would be outrageous (imo) with the amount of other r/c sites out there. That would mean overpaying by $2920.

I meant that it costs 90 a month, not suggesting members pay 90 a month.
For Tune to have to pay 90 a month for us is not chump change. I think that this site is what defines us as a "club" and most clubs have dues and benefits. This site is a great benefit and we members should pull some of our weight, thats all.

i think 20 a year is fine because not everyone wants to pay so they dont have to but it would help him out with the costs for the site and what it takes to keep it running. and maybe then he can upgrade it with better features if he chooses to do so

The whole idea though was to get rid of the riff raff and the 5 per person would accomplish that.

yeah but then every person would have to pay 5 dollars. im sorry im on alot of forums and most people on them wouldn't pay a dime to keep a site from going under. i myself on the other hand have started a site and had to keep it maintained. its not cheap and it is time consuming. but hey its not my decision on what to do.

Since no one seems to want to pay $5 (yes that’s it 5 bucks a year [maybe the price can change a little]) then why don't you have a way that we could donate money to help the site out (it would be like CFX paint works).
Also I don't see how a very small fee would hurt you if you were to sell an item (maybe if it is only a $10 item it might hurt you, but from what I see most things go for about $50 on up), will a small fee that you pay once a year really hurt you (come guys it won’t kill you to give a little money to help the out Mr. Tune keep the site up and going even if it is just a small fee to sell an item).

1. The DONATE button has been on the front page for how long? Have "you" donated?
2. If ads help pay the bills and make it easier for John to host this forum, I say YES to ads. Every penny helps.
3. Anyone who profits from this site should donate. Period. You can decide for yourself what constitutes "profit". Knowledge, free advice, free parts, free For Sale Ads, etc...they all have a value.
