Project #2 for the website is now underway. This one will be to turn my GS Storm into a competative (I hope) 1/8 racer. While the storm may not be the best choice, it was a cheap buy from a friend, lots of parts where donated by firesprink last month, so it was clear cut to use this as my base since a big portion of my funds went into purchasing the revo.
I weighed it before beginning tear down, but I forgot to write it down. Last I remember, it was 7lb ?oz.
First up on the list was to get rid of the old mangled chassis in favor of the donated one since it was a much better condition. Parts are slowly getting cleaned up and installed.
It was purchased as a roller and I've been driving it with the old (stock) electronics since my buddy doesn't need that stuff yet. I went out and picked up some new electronics and a jr receiver (so I can use my xs3 pro for this one too). A hitec 925 ultra speed servo for the throttle/brake and a hitec 945 ultra torque for the steering. I may get some light ribbing from some you for choosing hitec for servos but mind you, I have had great luck with their servo before, so I still use them. Here go some pics for your viewing pleasure.

put that throttle servo on top of the radio tray. you'll have a better angle at the brake and throttle

John, I had a gs..... Your starting with an RTR.... Your gonna want to upgrade to atLEAST the PRO chassis... The rtr is well known for pulling the diff screws that hold the diffs to the chassis right through the aluminum....
By the way... This project name is slighty better.... Slighty.

If it works/runs good, it could be The Perfect Storm....or Killer Storm.

What do you guys think of the Mayhem pro buggy? I've never owned a buggy but I can get a good deal on a brand new one.
My Nomadio Sensor is coming with a free extra transceiver so I can use one on my Revo and one on a buggy.
Actually, getting a buggy was my girlfriend's idea! God, I love that woman! LOL!!!

The mayhem is a Good buggy. It is what Domonick, Bernie, and Mike Drive, I had one, but traded it. I have been looking at the X-Ray and TTR buggies...
If you do get a Mayhem, get the Pro version. The RTR comes with the Sprtwerks .26, which has a Large backplate, so when you put a Race .21 in it, you will need Motor mounts also, to lower the engine so the flywheel will reach the starter box. The only reall issues with the Mayhem, is a bit of chassis flex, which is easily remedied, with either a support brace found on e-bay (Strong, but heavy) or the extended Motor mounts.

Update time.
The buggy is nearing completion . Front and rear suspension has been rebult and installed. Center diff is done. Servos and radio gear is done. All that is left is to put the old motor back in and get everything adjusted and broken in, then start shopping for a new high horsepower motor. :joy:

I would work on getting a better buggy before strapping in a big motor. Right now your driving a Savage for a buggy when you could be driving a revo. (Xray, Mugen, TTR, etc...)

So now you've got to buy 2 transponders or are you going to mount one on velcro so you can switch it between vehicles? If doing that, you might as well just buy two if you're now running in two classes. Also, are you running a good radio with multiple model settings and 2 receivers?

I'm running the JR radio I have with both. I'll order another transponder for the buggy next month. Trying to spread the money around a little.
Can't buy everything at once...I still gotta eat .

Absolutely. $75 each if you buy 10.
If I had the money, I would have bought up 10 and sold off the other 8 for like $80 each. A good price for the 8 lucky buyers and a really good price for me .
