Aside from meatwad owning a 09 Camaro, they will easily hit 10's. The LS3 they will come stock with is going to spec out at 430hp. Add gears and slicks and you'll see 11's. Cam/headers on that (depending on how radical you get with the cam) and you could see 10's.

Could possibly just spray a stock LS3 09 Camaro into the 10's. Then again, the LS3 has just been announced, no idea how much the heads are flowing, or what the cam profile is like. It'll probably have 12* intake ports like the LS7 does now.

Can't wait till GM starts getting serious about VVT geometry with the LSx series engines. The heads have enough flow to support some pretty radical cams, and variable cam technology would let them take advantage of it. They've already got the technology to do variable cam profiles in a single cam pushrod engine, the Viper has been using it for a while.

And how do you think you will first off afford a new Camaro and then second off afford to get it into the 10's before anyone else does. Get real man.

I am going to go out on a limb and say that the Camaro WILL NOT BE RUNNING 10s. Why? Does the corvette run them? Not the last time I checked. Factory stock they were running somewhere in the 11's. Chevy CANNOT release a car that will outrun the Vette. Just my prediction. Does that mean that it could not easily go 10's? Absolutely not. Factory stock, don't think so.

i dont think he was tryin to say itll do 10's out of the box....
i think he was saying with simple upgrades such as slicks, intake,nos, and cam would do the trick.
and any average joe could scrape up the coin for that rather quickly

I don't know what average joe's you're talking about can afford to go buy a Camaro and then go buy Slicks intake nitrous kits and stuff. Lol
LSP lots of Khz, Werks .28 8 port.

Revo 2.5, TRX 3.3 Engine, Center Diff. Fast and Turns on a dime.

any one that has a decent job

rough guess on pricing:

drag radials/ slicks = 400.00 pair
200 shot nos kit = 600.00
cam = 200-300.00
cold air intake = 200.00
chip = 200.00
kat back exhaust = 600.00

rough total = 2200.00

if you can afford a 35-45k car, whats 2200 bucks??

You know...I'll tell you from experience dealing with people, and expensive cars.

you tell them that their shits fucked, and they don't want to fix anything.

Alot of people will buy cars they cannot afford to maintain.

I dunno Im 20 and I work for 8 bucks an hour, I don't forsee myself making good money, but that can always change sometime I guess.

Those are just the "image" people who buy the car for the image it represents, not what it can do. Rob and I are referring to enthusiests. Speed junkies, etc... For people who just can't leave stuff stock. I know i can't. Why keep it stock when I can make it faster, handle better, etc... Sure, I don't go crazy, and I am limited by budget. Look at the people on this forum. Sure, we've got our "cheap" stuff, but we've also dumped thousands into the hobby. What sane person would spend a grand on a RC? None of us are sane.

BTW, fastest Z06 i've ever seen. And Ranger is reliable. Bone stock, 11.22 @ 127mph.

Same car on drag radials, no other mods. 10.85 @ 129mph.

Yeah.... and thats a Z06. There is no way the can release a Camaro that is faster than even the base Corvette.

Yes they can, its been done before. Besides, the crown will rest on the Z06, and shortly the Blue Devil which will have 600hp+, some sources say 700hp even, with it being about 100lbs lighter than the current Z06. So say, a under 3,000lb car with 700hp = card carrying supercar killer. Works out to about 4.2lbs/hp if the sources are true.

Fact, the Camaro will debut with the LS3, making 430hp in 2009.

There are also rumors of a LS9 powered Camaro, maybe 2010, or if lucky, in 2009. Which will most definitely destroy the base vette. GM is also looking at bringing the Grand National back, though i don't know if it will be powered by a Turbo V6.

Past examples of factory GM cars that could whoop on vettes: TTA, GN, GNX, Chevelle SS LS6, etc...

As well as the GMC Syclone and look what happened. The GN platform was dropped for a front drive platform and they Syclone was replaced with the less capable Typhoon, then killed both.

I thought the Cyclone and Typhoon were out at the same time? Wasn't one an SUV and the other a pick-up? I could be waaay off base though....

The Syclone (S-15 pickup) came out first and could give the ZR1 Vette a run for it's money as well as beat up on Ferrari's and Porsche's. Same thing for the GN/GNX and the original GTO's with the 3 two barrel carbs (Chevy felt that only the Corvette should have 3-two's in a light weight package). Supposedly GM has had this silent rule that nothing can be faster, quicker, better handling than the Vette if one of the other divisions came up with something that did, GM killed it or did something to slow it down. IIRC this goes all the way back to the 50's since Chevy was the biggest and best selling Division in GM that they got their way with the internal politics for decades. Dad actually worked with somebody that owned both the Syclone and Typhoon, he told Dad that the Syclone was not only a better performer, but it could do more truck type stuff too. He was kinda wishing he'd kept the Syclone and not traded it for the Typhoon (S-15 Jimmy)

While cyclone and typhoons were fast, as well as the GN/GNX/TTA, I'm afraid to say that the ZR1 really was king of the hill.

* 100 Miles at 175.600mph
* 500 Miles at 175.503mph
* 1000 Miles at 174.428mph
* 5000 Kilometeres at 175.710mph (World Record)
* 5000 Miles at 173.791mph (World Record)
* 12 Hours Endurance at 175.523mph
* 24 Hours Endurance at 175.885mph for 4,221.256 Miles (World Record)

The engine pushed the vette to 175mph for a over 4,000 miles!

1/4 mile wise, the ZR-1 in stock trim was faster than any other GM in stock trim. Trap speeds over 110mph in the 1/4 being common. However the 3.8L, and 4.3L turbo cars could easily be made to beat a ZR-1 with minimal mods, under $500 total in most cases. Race gas, manual boost control, deleting the cat and you have a low 13, high 12 second car with minimal effort.
